Forums - Microsoft - Can Lost Odyssey be the first HD JRPG to sell 1 million copies?

too many games this year for me, so i'll pass on this one up

I'm not crazy about jrpg's, but I am interested in eternal sonata. Is the story good?

Some will argue the story in Eternal Sonata gets plain absurd later on in the game but I don't know myself since I only played the demo.

It is too bad you will miss out on LO. I've been playing it and it is really good and proves that a turn based RPG can still be fun. I have a similar dilemma as you do. After I beat LO, I plan on getting either Tales of Vesperia or Infinite Undiscovery but I only want to play one big JRPG at once and it isn't helping that they get released pretty close to each other and I will be playing other games at the same time.

Lost Odyssey will reach that total of 1 million by the end of 2008.

Unless it get a price drop around the holidays, I don't see it happening. The new "hot" always buries the old, and SE has the name behind their RPGs, wheather you like them or not.

Not necessarily, we've seen time and again that large launches can boost sales for all games on a given platform.  The reason is that many more people are in the stores that would ordinarily not be.  They see other games similar to the ones they like/are buying and may pick them up as well.

@RPGJock

You're basically saying that people would be more interested in getting IU and The Last Remnant than LO, am I correct?

I heard the main character is a dying music composer (real life one at that) so it seems really different, that's kind of why I want it. I even already bought a faceplate

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

I hope not really hate that game there is better JRPGS on 360.

Enchanted Arms was generic

Blue Dragon was generic and a pretty big disappointment

Heard Eternal Sonata was pretty good but only played demo

Lost Odyssey has frame rate issues and what not but it doesn't break the game at all unlike some other games i.e.Killzone

Bull. Blue Dragon was a good game as long as you could stomach the generic chars and storyline. The game pacing got pretty damn good the last two disks, the toriyama monster designs are as usual excellent (it's a pitty their engine didn't support facial animations) and the ending setting makes the lack of a BD2 a damn shame.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

By the time LO reaches 1mil,FFXIII will be out and you know the rest...

Maybe yes, maybe not, DEPENDS only on when FFXIII will be released. =))
While, i am pretty sure, that know which HD jrpg will pass 2 mln., 3 mln. 4 mln. 5 mln. and etc. copies. =))
Anyway, if that makes you feel better, then you should just hope, that FFXIII won`t come in this year, neither in january 2009. =)
And probably won`t, but who knows... :))

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Yeah i think it will get to 1m

Proud Owner of  a Wii and Xbox 360 and a PS3(When I get the money)

i think it will reach 1 million sales this year, because with all the other rpg's coming out on the xbox 360, it will only help spread the word about rpg's on the system and when ppl check out these new rpg's on the xbox 360, they will notice lost odyssey and might give it a shot. also i think it will drop to $39.99 around october at the latest for the holiday push, and with that into account that should make up the difference to reach the 1 million mark.
