The first time I read vanguardian1's post I assumed he was saying that the games had a bad effect on each other's sales for getting released at the same time, but now I'm not so sure.

no he's talking about quality, it is known that nintendo has changed it's strategy somewhere around 2002 and wanted to do everything to get games out at the release date they gave, without any delays. therefore, those games are sometimes criticised to be not good enough compared with their prequels.
My theory, however, is another: because the prequels were such huge successes, SMS and WW could only have fit expectations if they were exactly the same as their prequels, but because they felt different, people were a little unhappy. It's the same effect you can observe in the music industry: after a huge success, a band normally get's mediocre reviews for their next album, even if it's good to. the next album will be praised again because expectations were lowered after the second. the strokes are a good example for that.
Coming back to videogames, this explains why people love TP so much and why SMG will be a huge success.

Fixed. I am so sick of people not know how to use a term, that was coined practically in their own generation. The games before cannot be prequels unless they take place after the games you are mentioning.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

and i'm sick of people correcting tiny mistakes. in case you don't know, english isn't my first language and therefore i did use the wrong term, so where's the problem? by doing that, you stop foreign people from writing in those forums. if that's what you want, that's fine for me. but i wouldn't want to read a german text you wrote.

I don't think people understand what you are trying to say. I didn't think those games were rushed either. WW took it's damn time to get out. If thought those games were rushed, then I would not like to see your expections of games that took their time. Nintendo delays their games the most, waiting until the final product is perfect. I would say Far Cry for the Wii was rushed, I wouldn't compare any Nintendo game to Far Cry.

What games is he talking about in September and October? I can only think of GTA and a few NBA and NHL releases that might be considered and don't know if GTA is really a social game.
Let's not bitch about stupid grammatical mistakes people, seriously.
That said, I am a grammar Nazi and things like that bug me...but I don't say anything...since not everyone here speaks English as their first language...and English is pretty ridiculous.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
The general consesus among the gamer community is that Sunshine and Windwaker were indeed rushed, and Nintendo's own people went on record saying they should have spent more time on the titles.
And by the way, I enjoyed them both immensely (I didn't like Mario 64 or Oncarina of Time oddly).
Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Oh, sorry about that. My bad.

That is a possibility, but I assumed that since the two games are not considered to be great like the ones before them that he was saying they were rushed and hence not very good. Like I said in my last post, I felt that they were in fact very good.
