The first time I read vanguardian1's post I assumed he was saying that the games had a bad effect on each other's sales for getting released at the same time, but now I'm not so sure. |
no he's talking about quality, it is known that nintendo has changed it's strategy somewhere around 2002 and wanted to do everything to get games out at the release date they gave, without any delays. therefore, those games are sometimes criticised to be not good enough compared with their predecessors. My theory, however, is another: because the prequels were such huge successes, SMS and WW could only have fit expectations if they were exactly the same as their prequels, but because they felt different, people were a little unhappy. It's the same effect you can observe in the music industry: after a huge success, a band normally get's mediocre reviews for their next album, even if it's good to. the next album will be praised again because expectations were lowered after the second. the strokes are a good example for that. Coming back to videogames, this explains why people love TP so much and why SMG will be a huge success. |
Fixed. I am so sick of people not know how to use a term, that was coined practically in their own generation. The games before cannot be prequels unless they take place after the games you are mentioning.
