Forums - Sony - PSP redesign to be revealed at E3, details inside (strong rumor)

It's cool but mostly fo people who haven't bought one yet. It's not enough for me to shell out another 170 after already shelling out 250. I did buy a DS lite, only because the original's screen was no where near bright enough, and it's down right ugly. the psp doesn't have those problems. so the additions are nice but not enough. However these changes may be enough to push people that have been waiting.

What PSP owners want the most is two analog sticks. If this new PSP is a good improvement, we may see PSP sales take off just as they did for the DS when the DS Lite came out.

When and where will the Summit be held?
The Summit will be held July 11th - 13th, 2007, at several hotels and Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

"seeing as most of them features won't be useful to alot of people"

I thought the biggest complaint about the PSP was it's battery life, and now you're saying it isn't useful?

Anyway, I'm suprised a slightly smaller screen increases the battery life 4x, I'd be happy with the same or uprated screen of the same size and 3x battery life. Also lower load times will be good.

Wait.. July's the one that comes after June? Crap, more waiting. -_-

I believe everything in that rumor, just not the price point.

Could Sonys gaming devision really need another console that sells for less than it costs to produce?

I dont think so, honestly. A PSP with 4x battery life, hard drive, better screen... you can´t sell that for 170$ and make a profit...

New efficient technology, flash drive, lcd prices have droped like a rock since psps inception yes you can.  Or atleast break even.

Tispower - I said most features, not all features. Everyone wants more battery life as battery life in all devices just plain suck (the only electronic devices that have long enough batterys at the moment are mobile phones).

But things like the 8gb flash memory, and the built-in camera aren't needed for people who pick it up to play a bit of Burnout, GoW: CoO, MGS:PO, and Daxter (all the reasons I'm gonna be picking one up).

While it will help the PSP, sales aren't going to skyrocket like the DS Lite did. Reemember the Ds was already doing really well when they released the Lite. PSP sales will go up, but nothing amazing.

Two analog sticks might be what the hardcore wants, but that's not what's going to get the mass market to buy the system. A smaller sleaker design, better battery life, and better games obviously, are going to get people to but the system at a better rate than they're buying it now. Even if all that happens I don't think it touches DS Lite sales, but there could at least be a few months where it's close enough between the two to make it interesting.
