the difference between 720p and 1080p is barely noticable unless you have a HUGE tv, or you just sit too close. nobody is going to sit there and 'see' the pixels of a 720p display, unless they pause the game and stuck their eyeball on the glass.

this whole 1080p true HD garbage was just Sony with petty bragging rights, and its pretty much comes back and hit them in the face as it looks like very few games will work at that res.

that's funny, because for some reason I always envisioned you as someone who joyfully jumps around in his apartment with only pants on his head at every news, that could be interpreted negatively for Sony/PS3, but I guess my impression was wrong there, sorry for that

[sarcasm] but yea, you're right, Gears2 could have been such a beautiful game if it wasn't 720p30, but I guess the 360 is just too weak[/sarcasm] (this is in no way ment to be taken seriously, for I think Gears2 is one of the technically most advanced games shown up until now, although I'm not really fond of it's art direction)

I'm really concerned that gamers would care. You really, really, really shouldn't. If you buy a game for it's resolution, you are in the minority.

Technophiles, certainly, but with the 1080p bounties promised, how many deliveries have come through? That may be bothersome. But even then, you're weird people. Get off my lawn!

Does it really matter about the resolution? so long as it's above 480p, most people won't notice the difference and even if they did, it's not a big enough one to make a fuss over.

I'm more impressed with the online co-op campaign being different to single player AND 60 player matches (Seems to be frontline-esque, but hopefully it'll be much more intense and engaging).

IMO the 30fps doesnt matter, its mostly sports and fighting games that need 60fps ( imagine trying to juggle in Tekken 5 DR at 30fps :P)

Actually, sarcasm or not, both HD consoles are underpowered compared to the impressions both Sony and Microsoft gave us.  They may not ever have said "all games will be in 1080p at 60fps (though Katarugi mentioned 120fps at one point didn't he?" but they definitely implied that it would be the norm, especially Sony.

Having played Gears of War, I know it looks fantastic, and I'm sure Resistance 2 will as well.  But the games are not what Sony said they would be, even with the third game Insomniac has produced on PS3 hardware. 

Ok i now understand (if its true) that r2 is actually being rendered at 720p. And COULD be upscaled out of the box to 1080p like COD4 if that is the case and the render is actually higher than COD4 than i am happy. I didnt know so many people had such strong opinions.
first thing as obieslut so eloquently put it, i dont "hate" r2 just becoz of its res. In fact if it renders at 720 p then thats gd. There is no need to be sarcastic or make satarical responses, it is just my opinion that i wanted to share. There's no need to say i have no expertise or wotever because thats just rubbish and reduces the impact of whatver you are saying.

As long as it looks and plays good, I don't care about the resolution
