Forums - Sony - Sony's Franchises

I wouldn't make Sony's first party ever they have some great titles. The only issue I would take with this thread is saying that Sony is the number one First party which is far from true. However Best first party is opinon something I wouldn't argue with at all. Sony does have some Quality first party titles.

However in terms of sales the only company with larger sales than Nintendo is EA.

games are a matter of taste though and this is a Sony thread no need for comparisions to Nintendo(whose sales records speak for themsleves). Just don't complain when people correct something that is incorrectly stated. People do have opinions and this is the internet say something and you will be corrected even if you are right!

I fail to see the point of this, too. Jay Leno owns more cars than Mario Andretti. Anyone care to guess who's the better driver?

(give you a hint: it's not Sony)

umm... I'm sick of Mario so for me... it is Sony.

@Gballzack- there is backwards compatibility isnt there?

That's still a silly thing to say. When you come out and say "OMG look at teh Sony franchises" (not how said it, but face it, that's how it really sounds) you mainly want to list the current franchises. Nobody is going to buy a PS3 for Ico or any of the other PS2 or PS1 games on there (Battle Arena Toshinden: lol) so you want to keep things current and things actually announced. Plus, things like Motorstorm and Ico aren't really franchises until they actually get a sequel. A better title would be "Sony Exslusive Titles."

And I looked at the Nintendo list and it's just as rediculous in that they list things that were from the NES and the fact they missed many many current games.

Once again, it's more worthwhile to list the first party studios and keep it to ones that are current.

Also since they've discontinued selling PS1 games, it's kind of moot to consider them a part of the mainstream market anymore.

The list is flawed anyways. You have things like Flow on there which I wouldn't go as far to call first party and you have dead franchises like Ico that were great and could possibly have a sequel one day but nothing has been announced. And don't get me wrong, I'm sure that Nintendo list is the exact same way I just didn't bother reading it.

A much better way to make that list would be to list developers anyways.

Its published by Sony. Which means Sony owns the rights to the game. Also this is a list of all franchises they own, not that they are all going to be remade.

It's still flat out false to say that Sony is the largest first party dev. Nintendo is clearly #1 by a substantial margin.

There happy with that edit then? winers...

Now it's just unintelligable. Why don't you straight out say: "this is why Sony is my favorite dev?" That's what you mean anyway, isn't it?

Yeah. It is all a matter of opinion, because sales can show otherwise.

Nothing wrong with having Sony as your favorite first party developer, just be careful about your wording because peole will hold you to it.

I'm sorry, what did you edit?  This forums doesn't show you when you edit things and I didn't see any changes on the list (only quick glance) or the title.  Also, I'm quite blind... >_<

Is it ok if I say:

Nintendo has one of the largest third party software libraries out of the three companies for their own game consoles.
