Forums - Sony Discussion - Ubisoft urges Sony to act on 'directionless' PSP

That's it. Now I'm really boycotting Ubisoft. Calling out Sony and stating the obvious?

BOYCOTT!

Seriously though, they're right. Sony tried to take on the iPod and every other portable device known to man with the PSP and it failed on several levels. It's a great gaming machine if Sony would focus on just that, games.

We already have iPods, cameras, phones, etc etc etc. We don't need a PSP for that shit. Luckily, Sony seems to have acknowledged that and the PSP is getting some pretty damned good games lately.

That is it. I am boycotting the PSP until it get some direction.

Read the article, Ubisoft believes that the whole Wii audience is casual, and that their Wii's are only bought for Wii Sports and Wii Play in the UK. Hilarious nonetheless!!

I bet he does't check VGChartz that often. Wii has quite some 500,000+ sellers there in the UK.

Judging by what he said, don't expect a normal/non-shovelware game from Ubisoft for Nintendo's consoles this gen.

What Ubisoft thinks of Nintendo

Q: Do you think the family audience is a fad brought on buy the Wii and DS, or can it be maintained? Let's be honest, these consumers aren't buying an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Can that audience be attracted to gaming in the long-term?

Rob Cooper: I think it can be maintained for a number of reasons. Nintendo is obviously doing so well with the Wii and DS, it's responsible for this massive growth in the market. What that's doing is introducing gaming to people as a form of entertainment, whereas before it was shunned. Sony and Microsoft will always stick to the central, specialist consumer, that 15 – 25 age bracket. But outside of that it's become a family thing. Without Nintendo our industry would have gone nowhere.

Apparently Ubisoft has enough shovels to give us tons of shovelware and to dig their own grave at the same time.

Why does a system need direction? Who thinks like that? Systems need games. Maybe Ubisoft should shut up and make some.

Is anyone else cynical enough to believe this is just an attempt to divert attention from the recent media shitstorm at Ubisoft.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

@Rubang: LOL to "Apparently Ubisoft has enough shovels to give us tons of shovelware and to dig their own grave at the same time."

That was platinum.

If it is, it's poorly executed. I guess it's safe for them to go after the PSP though, since they aren't making any games for it. Everyone is already, by default, boycotting Ubisoft on the PSP.

This just in Ubisoft urges Ubisoft to act on directionless Ubisoft.

To be fair they have a direction; copy what works.
