See, now, I know this is wayyyy off topic, but I truely hate this and as a Newfoundlander, take offense. People joke about this all of the time, but it is truly a misunderstood enterprise. Leave the sealers alone!

That being said, yes, this has been beaten to death

Please stop jumping to conclusions as to what caused amazon to go down. The evidence is pointing to a dns attacker.

your "update" with conjecture that it's DNS based is really, really uninformed.

try your "whois" test with microsoft.com or apple.com ... it's the same thing.

your awareness of how the version of the "whois" command operates is the only thing that's been compromised

Let me post the comments section to that link:

another comment:

"So, what does "whois www.amazon.com" give you? And why would you say those results indicate Amazon's DNS entry was hacked??"

and the last comment:

It's responding with a web server error message -- the DNS didn't get hacked... it resolves just fine if you ping it.

You can also access the Amazon website through HTTPS --> https://www.amazon.com/

If you search for anything, it still crashes

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

It was back for a second...I mean properly back but then it went again

It is not my conjecture. I'm merely reporting information as I find it.

In regards to dns and pinging, it can often yield varying results as the information is cached on various servers.

@FishyJoe

know you were falsely "asserting" wrong information onto us.

Weird, amazon is down but is now super slow and buggy.
Funny my custom amazon still works.
