It's doubtful considering Aerosmith, Rock Band, and GH IV should all lower Wii and 360 version sales to a point where it would take too much to overtake it. Wii version should end it's cycle probably around 3.1 million total.

I would think Aerosmith would help Wii. I mean don't you need GHIII to play it?

What gave you that idea? That is not the way GH works. You put in DVD and are good to go.

 Just like porn! ;)

True ... but Since most of the differential is in the Japanese market and GH3 is not exactly a big seller there-- this is a big deal. Mike from Morgnatown

It'll be close, as competition will probably slow GH3 sales.

However, the sales for new music games will be interesting. GH Aerosmith and GH4 are simultaneously released, so we'll get a more accurate trend indicator there.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Meh, I wouldn't consider Guitar Hero a game that proves anything, since it requires no graphics, basically no physics, and not so much processing power to be compared to other games.
It should always sell better on the Wii since it is cheaper if it gets DLC.

I thought that Aerosmith gets released in late June or in July, and GH4 in October?

GH3 comes with a guitar.
GH Aerosmith does not, thus Wii owners were required to have GH3.

Now, I don't play GH games and didn't want to waste precious time researching what does and does not come with the Aerosmith game. But, I was thinking it was more of an expansion pack vs a separate game.

^nevermind, I looked it up. Aerosmith does have a guitar option. So, yeah it might make both drop off quicker. But, since it has only one band, I don't think they will stop selling all together.

However, the dates will probably be off.

Now, I'm curious which one will sale better since there are so many Wii owners with guitars already.

The PS2 will be so decayed by holiday season '08 that Guitar Hero World Tour will sell best on the Wii, easily.

The gap has actually been closing in America (as least from what I've noticed), but the Wii version still has a definite chance to pass it. I expect that the Wii version will have a 100k lead by the time World Tour comes out. If it doesn't, World Tour will push more copies.

Also note that GH World Tour will take a beating on the 360 because of Rock Band.

I wonder if you have the option to buy GH4 with only a guitar?
