Forums - Sony - Team ICO working on TWO new games!???

Team Ico is one of the reasons I bought a PS3, so the sooner we have more info on these games the better.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Ico 2 and Sodow of the Colossus 2 are the only games for PS3 that I would be interestid in, so far. (yeah I had Resistance 2 on my radar, but it seems so multiplayer heavy that I lost interest).  And maybe a sequel to that art game that was just released on the Wii... but the name escaped me... help me.

Anyone here with good insight on Team Ico and their history? I mean time-scales ---> how long total dev time they use --- time between announcement and first trailers/previews and release.

The time between Ico and Shadow of the Colossus was 4 years, but I remember reading an interview of Fumito Ueda (the director) in which he said that SotC was in development for 3 years and that he felt development needed to be streamlined in order to release games more quickly. SotC was released in Fall '05, so this Fall would be a great time for a release!

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

There were 18 months between Ico release and Shadow of the Colossus first rumors : some screens leaked begining of 2003, but the game was only annouced 18 months later September 2004 and released in Japan one year after that (October 2005).

It means 4 years between their first and second game.

Since Shadow was released end of 2005 you can expect the next one for end of 2009, but the game will most likely be officially announced either at E3 or TGS this year, thus giving Sony time to hype it.

Yeah, I've known about this for ages. Hopefully we see them at E3.

Thanks! Exactly what I was asking for.

Slight contradiction on info there - 3 years development vs the timeline of SotC that strongly suggests 4 years.

But that doesn't matter because by fall 2009 4 years have passed.

Okay, team ICO seems to have a policy to announce/hype their games late - judging by the 13 months last time. So late 2009 seems realistic, unless they have limited dev team resources split on two games rather than one.... But then there is the director's comment about streamlined development. =)

Two of my favorite ps3's games. Though i am probably the only one that liked ICO better then Shadows.

Owner Of: PS1 PS2 PS3 PSP NES GB GBA GC WII XBOX

I haven't played ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. But I know that Team ICO does have some unique developing talent that I'm catching on with. And seeing how they are developing two new games for the PS3. Just makes me jump for joy!

I need ICO and Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2 though :)

I´ve played Shadow of the Colossus and loved it. I will be looking forward to both games.

They better work just on one game first, for sooner release, then awaiting for middle 2009...
