Forums - Sales Discussion - Blu-Ray or downloads?

Am I the only one predicting a future where all of these formats live in harmony?

-Unless they feel like abandoning 90% of the market, good ol' DVDs will be around for quite some time. Sure, people switched en-masse to DVD from VHS, but that was because it was a completely new format (disc) that was much more convenient (no rewinding, much smaller, etc.) For the standard consumer who just wants to watch a movie, DVD will be fine.

-Blu-Ray will obviously be great for those who want the best-looking film possible, while still being able to have their wall of movies and say 'here, these are my movies.'

-DD will be available for people who don't want a lot of clutter.

Personally, even though I have a PS3, I'll stick with DVDs unless Blu-Ray absolutely dominates the market. I don't want to be having to pack the PS3 with me when I wanna bring a movie to a friend's place.

I kind of agree. CDs and downloadable music have coexisted for a while. I remember when downloadable music was introduced, most people were still on dial-up modems.
