Did Ubisoft say that they had 400-500 people working on Wii games in 2008 for 2008 release? I just want to clarify this because I don't have the original quote in front of me.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3164228

In an investment meeting reported by Next Generation, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated the company currently has 400-500 people dedicated to development on the Wii platform, and believes that they will achieve "Nintendo-like quality" on the Wii next year.

Since the article is from 2007, the Nintendo-like quality refers to 2008 games.

It was also written in November of 2007.

Methinks people are jumping the gun here.

Which means they are talking about games they are making for release in 08 ie(dogz)

Or they could be unannounced holiday 2008 games that will be shown down the road.

Or they could be 2009 games and the CEO was talking in fiscal years, not calendar years.

Either way, a lot of people here could wind up with egg on their face in six months.

Maybe they're not ready to be shown. After all, it's not like a decent core game has a development timeline under the six month mark. If they put those 400-500 people on Wii development in late 2007, there's a good chance we won't see anything from them until late 2009.

Hm you might be right, but I would still think they would try to get something out for ubidays. Anything is better than that Dogz trailer I posted a few posts ago in response to DK. If you notice the game looks like a ds game and has under 20 fps framerates.

why are we still talking about this?

who cares about Ubisoft and they dont owe wii fans anything. They're not smart by not releasing decent games for it, but if they happy making HD Games, that's their business. You cant boycott a company if there is nothing to boycott.

I think we are at a point where we simply can all agree that we'll wait until after E3 before we continue to discuss this.

Unless of course DMeisterJ decides to jump in again to keep this thread going.

but they announced a big game at ubidays for 360/ps3 why didnt they announce one for wii?

I wasn't arguing that Ubisoft would never support the Wii, I was defending Ubisofts library as a whole when people started saying "Ubishit", and "Ubicrap", and hoping the company will fail.

But I do agree.  E3 will be the deal breaker (or deal-maker) in terms of third-party support and the Wii (specifically Ubisoft).

Consider this thread, done.

/thread.

Glad we were all able to come to a conclusion.

Uh, because maybe they didn't have anything ready to show?
