Forums - Nintendo - Boom Blox issues...

Hey all, Smeags here...

... if there's one problem I have with Boom Blox it's its use of the IR for the Wii-mote.

It just doesn't want to keep still, especially If I use a throwing maneuver. Once I throw, It will take a while for the IR to sense the Wii-mote again, and by that time precious seconds have gone off the timer (Or the Skeletons have killed all of the kittens...). I tryed playing it during night, moving the motion sensor, etc. etc. and nothing is working. I just don't want to deal with faulty controls, especially when they're of most importance in a great game like this.

Is anyone else dealing/delt with this problem?

I haven't experienced that particular issue, thrown items seem to work fine for me. I have found the crosshairs will 'stick' when firing rapidly with some of the shooting items, though.

The controls could adjust faster, especially for the scenarios that require a high level of precision. I first noticed that issue with the shooting stages.

I don't know if it's my remote (low battery power) or the distance I'm standing from the IR sensor bar, but yep; it does throw me off my game.

Are you sure the strap isn't on tight enough? (that didn't sound right at all)

I didn't have that particular problem, or not to an extent where I felt greatly disadvantaged. However most of my throws are kind of quick flicks the end with the remote pointing back towards the sensor bar, which might explain why my throws are always recognized. =P

No, no it didn't.

@BrainBox

My throws have been wrist flicks (we need a better word for that ) for a while now, and I've always ended up pointing on screen afterwards. However, It'll take a few seconds for the cross-hairs to come on screen. It just gets "stuck" offscreen for some odd reason, and I actually had to give up on a level because of the issue. Kind of a bummer.

I'll try testing and trying out new things with the IR functionality. Hopefully I can find a solution.

Odd, when I play it usually picks it up the cursor almost instantly after a throw. I've gotten golds in every single player challenge, so I doubt I've suffered this problem like you have. What stage did you have to give up on?

In Adventure mode, in the 3rd set of Spooky where you have zap the baddies. Where instead of zapping with the Ghost Gun you have the Baseballs, and I just can't throw them quickly enough because every time I do, it takes a couple of seconds to set up again. And by that time, the McGills are munching on the kitties brains.

'Tis a shame really.

 Those stages are annoying in general. =P

But I don't seem to have the same issue you're having. I replayed the stage and got another gold, so I'm not sure what to tell you. All I got is try the basic stuff. Could try a different remote, get fresh batteries, or fiddle with the sensor sensitivity in the Wii's option menu. Windbane had an issue where one of his remotes as moved as if it was upside down, and only on Boom Blox. So maybe it's wiggy with certain remotes or something.
