Yes , but the basis of the alphabet didn't orginate in england did it? It is an adaptation of many alphabets such as the latin and the greek's. So we should use the original way to pronounce it if he says that.

BUT Q A X NEVER SAID WHERE THE ALPHABET ORIGINATED!!!

Lol you seem to be getting angry. I was saying if they do that then they might as well use the first pronouncation for the letter. Just because a different dialect of a language uses Zee and the original dialect uses Zed doesn't mean Zed is automatically more valid. You could say that Zeta is more valid than Zed because it was the original way to pronounce it.

No you couldn't because it's a different language altogether, I don't know how many people have to tell you this before it hits home.

So you agree that Zee is incorrect because it's different from the original pronounciation used by english speakers. Then let's say any language such as english that developed of dialects of other languages is incorrect because it's not the original.

Zee should only be used in "Dragonball Z" because "Dragonball Zed" sounds bad.

Aurally examine my music!

Wear gaudy colours or avoid display. It's all the same.

Be warned, I will use walls of polysyllables and complex clauses as a defence against lucid argument.

Wand to read a creepy thread?

Zed?

English is a language, Greek is a different language.

SOME of the letters originated in Greece, but they are not Greek anymore they are different letters used in different ways.

The English letter Z originated in the English language. It was "inspired" (for want of a better word) by the Greek letter zeta, but they are still different letters. Wheras in US.English and English the letter Z is used in the same words and performs the same sounds.

Whoa, wait.  I've never heard of this either.  There are places that teachers learn you to say the lower and upper case letters differently?

ZED. It's the correct English English way of saying it.

I would also like to know what is going on there.

Are you saying that you would say "zebra" in a different way to "Zebra"

All I know is that the letter is called "zed".... but the way you pronounce it will depend on the other letters around it making up the words
(with Z you usually pronounce it as "zzz" oddly enough... so zebra is pronounced zzz-eh-be-ra (although I believe Americans pronounce it zzz-ee-be-ra))

Actually a good way to describe the "z" sound without using the letter "z" would be "ts".... although with "zzz" there is more vibration than with "ts"
