Since the launch of the Wii we all know how well the sales figures have been and we've probably had a thread about it for every Wii sold, we've had the Wii droubt and most of the Wii's library could be seperated into either ports or parties but this year is the telling year for the Wii.
It seems the industry has been waiting hor the GTA4 bullet to be fired and we all had stupid analysts claim "when GTA4 gets released" then after April we had "well May will tell as GTA4 got released end of April". Not only has Nintendo remained unmoved but it seems to have targeted gameplayers as much as casuals this year with SSBB and MKWii having comprehensive online elements, launch of Wii Ware which gives third parties a direct outlet to attmept to understand the wii and target the most loyal of gameplayers, some form of solution for DLC and a pay ot pla plan for MMO.
At the same time of all of this going on we seem to have a picture where bigger set in their ways devs like Ubisoft seem to be shying away from Wii support yet samller devs like Clover, High Voltage and Majestico are really stepping up to the plate and looking to bring fresh new games to the Wii. It seems obvious that if these smaller devs had a hit or two on the Wii then the Ubi's and Capcoms would come flooding to the Wii with boulder ideas.
I see this as a time of reckoning for the wii - we all know the Wii will bring new gameplay elements to the industry but here on will define what those elements will be, do you think they will be successfull?
