By releasing tons of units, Wii-Fit and Mario Kart, in a concerted effort to keep Wii-Owners from feeling left out, and in turn, keep them from going out and purchasing a PS3 or 360 to play GTAIV, by ripping all the money from their wallets with their finally available console, and their new must own games.
Now let me ask you this. How did GTAIV steal Nintendo's thunder? |
i'm confused, all i remember that week , on tv , the newspaper, everyhere, GTA. Nintendo stole ps3 and 360's thunder, GTA had no competition.

If it kept one customer from buying a PS3 or 360, and a copy of GTAIV to play on that console...then I disagree, it did give competition. It might not have stole the games thunder as a software seller, but it is likely it stole the hardware-mover stigma behind the games legacy.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

How did Nintendo steal GTAIV's thunder?
Imagine if PS3 and 360 sales were equal to the Wii for April NPD. All the headlines would read,
"GTAIV leads comeback for HD consoles, Wii loses momentum"
Instead we got,
"Despite GTA, Wii outsells PS3 and Xbox 360 combined"
I dont think it matters, someone who wants to buy a PS3 or 360 doesnt really care if Nintendo shipped 400k that week, it's not like they wont find a 360 or ps3 in the stores. I think Nintendo cost themselves more hardware because its so hard to find, can you imagine how many consoles Nintendo would have sold already if they could ship enough.

Yea, in a not so distant future the ratio of Wii to HD will grow by a lot, I still dont think it could turn into a Japan.
