Forums - Gaming - Why the Wii still won't see so many multiplatforms games

I think it'll get what it's getting right now. The big name multiplat games such as COD, Madden, GH, ect it'll continue to get. And it'll tack on a few more due to popularity, but still in the end its going to get more of the spinoffs or own titles, exclusives, ect. But I think that those games are going to start getting better as their is more in it as the PS360 become less profitable due to a smaller userbase, heavier costs, and lack of interest as Wii becomes the dominant brandname.

The Wii emphasizes different values than the PS3 or 360. It will be very difficult to design a single game that appeals to users of both types of consoles.

For developers, this is a boon as they can fine-tune their games for a single engine instead of watering it down for all consoles.

For publishers, they'll hate it. They want the most exposure possible.

For customers, it won't matter. They either own a Wii and will buy Wii games or buy a PS3/360 and buy those games.

So um...I agree?

I totally agree.

The thing that prompted my post is that fact that every single time a PS360 title isn't announced for the Wii we get a huge thread in the Nintendo forum complaining about it so it seems it does matter for some customers though....

No nintendo fans are pissed off at games going to hd consoles that are better suited for the wii. I'm assuming you me BG&E2. Which if you look at it you will see a perfect wii game, but instead it goes to consoles where the userbase will most likely ignore it. Then there are games like RE5 that do target nintendo fans. You don't really see fans complaing about Gta IV or Halo 3 , because it doesn't really target nintendo fans the way some game do.

I'm still betting on Wii getting primary development on most games soon with PS360 getting ports.

LOL not a chance. There may be many possible futures but this is not one of them.
Wii ports would sell like mud on PS3/360. The innovative controls wouldn't be there and the graphics would look like shit.
So if a game is multiplatform Wii/HD there will always be two completely separated developers.

The next years we will probably see more and more JAPANESE devs developping games for the Wii especially RPG devs.

But I have a feeling that the Western World will not move much they will probably keep making games for PS3/X360 while some of them making cheap cash in games for the Wii.

*Uch Ubisoft*...
New announcements: Rayman Rabbits 3 for the Wii and Beyond good and Evil for PS3/X360

Is there in fact a game from a Western dev coming to the Wii this year?  And I am talking about a good game.

I only wishes some Wii fanboys were not so obstinate about their console and buy a PS3 or x360 I can't believe that
you don't are interested in some of the games coming out for those two consoles.

How does a game like RE5 target Nintendo fans?  Why would Beyond Good and Evil 2 be more suited to the Wii?

Why would you want ports of a game not meant to be played with the WiiMote? Games will not be ported from Wii to HD consoles because that would be ridiculously stupid. You should want purely Wii titles to come out for Wii because they would most assuredly at least attempt to use the WiiMote in a cool way.

Idk, ask those people who bought these games. And this is about how much capcom is expecting from each hd console.( They said they expect 3million life time sales)

I'm convinced at least Ubisoft is 100% sure the Wii is either a family, party or kiddy platform and will treat it as such, if your expecting the above for the next year, then your on the right platform.

I was totally appalled when I looked at the 3rd part 08 line up, EA seems to be doing some work, but sadly I don't think these developers/publishers were ready for Nintendo take over the scene like they have and have been running around like chickens without there heads for almost two years now.

Right now yea the install base on the Wii would have to surpass that of the 360/PS3 combined to open some eyes, and coincidentally that may just be in 2009, I'd figure Squareso.. SquareEnix to be the first to really give it a shot.
(knowing these guys they will probably say "It's mostly casuals!")

The new marketing is clear, if they want the Hardcore vote they have to find a way to mix CG and game play with people having fun or person having fun while playing that beautiful game in a commercial. But they will eventually realize this in 2009 and have some idiot PR guy say, well we think..."blarg" You'd think it was obvious.

It's like battle of the slugs in the middle of a desert, or better yet watching paint dry, waiting for these guys to utilize this system, to satisfy the demands of all it's demographics; they're almost there for the DS... I don't want to wait 4 years for them to get it... it's just unfair.

/rant off

Oh well, what do I know...

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

You know everybody to be honest I think that this is a moot point. It is completely true that games made specifically for the Wii suck all around on every other console (Rayman Raving Rabbids). I mean tossing a cow with a sixaxis? please. But that is why they made RRR2 a Wii exclusive, and it works the way it is supposed to. Sad to say I bought the x360 in order to play Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Ghostbusters on it, only to find they then ported those games to the Wii.

Neither Developers nor publishers are so stupid that they cannot recognize the potential or awesomeness of the Wii at this point. Unfortunately I agree that the future filled with Wii ports to other systems is fantasy, because it is neither plausible nor recommended, for our sake as gamers. But cmon, wait long enough and all those big HD games will make it onto your Wii, and you might even get some spectacularly awesome games that they said would never come over(Okami anybody??)

In the end we get awesome games multiplatform because the Wii is easier to program for and everybody wants a piece of the big N.

@Dib8rman Square Enix doesn't have a choice to give the wii a shot or not. If they want their franchises that are japanese heavy to sell such as dragon quest they are going to HAVE to put them on the wii. They would be even in more of a predicament after the ds dies. The same thing goes for any other Japanese heavy developers.
