Forums - Nintendo - What will happen to 3rd parties that ditch the Wii and continue on ps360?

Nothing ,they will keep doing their business as usual.

Bad thing would be turning all their attention to the Wii and getting no sales because only casual and nintendo titles sell there.

What they are doing ,good games for PS360 and casual games and effortless spinoffs for the Wii ,is the best way for them.

Bingo! Man, really you are an unlucky one, you've had so many Bingo boards handed to you, and you never actually won a Wii??

Your same old arguments all over again, you need to come up with something new. I feel very sorrry for you.

They will survive purely because they are the minority.

Seriously it's foolish to believe that for developers it's do Wii or die...

If developers make good games and market them well they will succeed whatever the platform.

Lets not forget that the most profitable third party on earth ( Blizzard) doesn't even develop console games....

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Konami has 11 Wii games ... compared to 8 for the Xbox 360 and 4 for the PS3. (And many are cross platform efforts).

And the only original IPs are Wii games (e.g., Dewey's Adventure).

So how is Konami not supporting the Wii? (You can question quality. You cannot question attempt)

What I find interesting is that Target Terror came out at $40 and Wing Island is still $40.

Does anyone else have a problem loading the 2nd page now? I assume it's just my PS3 browser but this hasn't happened except for 1 other thread...and that was on the Gaming forum...I can't remember what the thread was but it was at least 7 pages. Anyway, the page will load but then go blank.

Konami isn't ditching the Wii. MGS isn't their only franchise. There are rumors of a Castlevania Wii (though this is pretty much certain right now...) and Suikoden VI being on the Wii.
Castlevania Wii would certainly get my adrenaline rushing

No public owned company can afford to "ditch" the Wii. It's that simple. Sure Epic can do what they want and their core business is pure harcore anyway, but besides them and maybe id-software every other company has to bring quality titles to the Wii or get toasted by the shareholders.

Results have been very bad for software companies lately. PS360 games require enormous investments and their userbase isn't growing very hard.
Wii on the other hand will be around 50 (!) million units sold next april.
Investors know this (hell, I'm sure big investors check VGChartz) and will ask the board why on earth there are no quality titles for the biggest userbase.

Ubisoft is a bad example because they've delivered 2 RRR and Red Steel. You wonder why Red Steel 2 takes so long? Because they didn't expect the Wii to win and now it does they want to make it a quality title. Same with Rygar.

Konami semi-announced Castlevania for Wii. I know it's not MGS but certainly a major franchise. PES already made it to Wii and is selling well.

Capcom: Monster Hunter 3; Tecmo: Fatal Frame and we'll see much more.

Interesting rumours are going on inside SquareEnix at the moment. I'll be amazed if we don't hear anything of them soon.

I think theres wrong with your posts there,

1) When did Ubisoft announced Red Steel 2 coming for the Wii? And if it announced, where are the pics? The teaser? Do you mean that the conduit was the first to show gameplay footage than Red Steel 2?

2) Since when did Konami "even" semi-announced castlevania for the Wii? Simply because theres a Wii menu on DS castlevania does mean that there'll be a castlevania for the Wii.

Some of you guys are really thick-headed. Ubi-Soft announced that they were making another Red Steel last year after the release of the first one. Seeing as how Red Steel managed to become a million-seller, it's pretty obvious they're going to make another one anyway. No pictures have been released because, believe it or not, they're working on the bloody game right now. They also said they're aiming for online deathmatches and more refined controls. Konami has essentially admitted that a new Castlevania game for the Wii is being worked on.

It's been mentioned a few times as the dev (whose name escapes me at the moment) indicated a high interest in working on the Wii but said they don't think a whip-swinging motion would be a logical fit. On top of which, there was a report last year from GameSpot indicated that Square-Enix, Sega, and Capcom all dropped a lot of PS3 support to focus more directly on Wii and DS. Keep in mind, it takes a while to make a game, so the fruits of this switch probably won't start showing up in earnest until 2009.  At the time of the article, Square-Enix had actually abandoned the PS3 completely except for the two versions of FFXIII.  A rumor came up afterwards that Sony begged (with $$$) for Square-Enix to craft another exclusive PS3 title for them.  Don't expect to see that until 2010 at the soonest.

Nobody is really dropping the Wii.  It's the new popular system.  Nintendo has more third party devs and publishers on their side now than they've had for the last two console generations.  The heavy support of the VC and Wii Ware titles backs this up as well.  Yeesh.

The thing is, a lot of 3rd party companies were slow to adopt the Wii, just as they were slow to adopt the DS.  But now that they've seen the success, they've been moving back into Nintendo's camp en masse.  Many still want to make the visual masterpieces they can on the Xbox260 and PS3, but the Wii's sales continue to be very strong.  They won't be ignoring that for long.

1. Barely 1 mil? Lol. KH1 sold 1.24 mil in Japan and KH2 sold 1.16 mil in Japan (VGC numbers). Also, ever wonder why the Final Mixes are Japan only?

2. Kids don't know who Sleeping Beauty is? LOL. Sure, Disney characters appeal to everyone, but so does the Wii. Does the PS3 appeal to everyone? Don't think so. Disney is mostly for kids anyway...

3. No, complete lack of RPGs means Japanese devs didn't know whether the Wii was going to be a success or not.

4. Too bad SE/Disney don't care what you think.

5. The Wii will advance KH in terms of graphics, controls, gameplay, etc. What's your point? It's not all about graphics. And KH has always been about art style...

Can we stop this argument now?

sorry I couldn't leave this last part alone.  kindom hearts sells a lot better in US than Japan and pretty good in Europe.  so why does the final mixes only show up in Japan?  because SE is just funny that way?  and disney isn't mostly for kids, they want the adults that get dragged to the movie theatres so their kids can watch the movie to enjoy themselves also.

yes the wii will be a jump in terms of graphics, the wii (aka two gamecubes ductaped together is the equivilant of what? 9 ps2s ductaped together?) but controls and gameplay will be crap.  how will you be able to jump, attack, bring up the quick magic menu, use a spell from the quick magic menu, use the enemy specific attack, and use the extra attack button (the square button that they used in kh2 to throw enemies in the air etc), lock on to targets, rotate targets, rotate the camera etc.  That is why this argument just won't die.

The only way to do all this that I can think of involves waving both hands in every direction to trigger all the motion stuff in the controller and nunchuck and that would be a very unfun game.  The only other option would be to force people to pick up the classic controller and that certainly wouldn't go over well with Nintendo for a BIG developer like SE to say that your controller sucks and we are going to force people use this one instead, and the only reason we are putting this game on your system is because Disney forced us.  (lets ignore the fact the the classic controller is smaller than a dual shock and probably wouldn't be comfortable to play with in a button masher)

Of all arguments against Kingdom Hearts not being released for the Wii, I think your argument is the weakest ...

One of the main things that the Wiimote and Nunchuck have going for them over a conventional controller is that the (virtually) limitlessness of motion controlls allows developers to produce many more highly intuitive actions that a player can perform in a rapid succession than could ever be produced on a conventional controller.

On top of motion controlls, by pointing the Wiimote at the screen, holding down a button, and drawing a simple rune a player can cast a (virtually) unlimited number of spells, and if the composition of the rune is meaninful it will be a highly intuitive experience.

^ Bolded. It's important to have quality in your attempts, otherwise we could also say shovelware companies deserve great sales. The only really good attempt from Konami is PES 2008, though Dewey also seems OK.
