Forums - Nintendo - What will happen to 3rd parties that ditch the Wii and continue on ps360?

Like Konami, Epic and Ubisoft? What will happen to them on the future? Or atleast after this year?

Yeah, there'll be a rumor of Red Steel 2 this year, but till now we never heard or known on Ubisoft so I can say its a rumor till proven isnt.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

There's no reason to ditch the Wii... It gives you access to an userbase which is almost as big as PS360 (and still gaining marketshare), with lower development cost (you don't need as many artists to make 480p graphics). It's already proven that good 3rd party titles can sell well on the Wii, especially if they're advertised properly (as Zack & Wiki wasn't, besides it being in a pretty niche genre so don't even bother to bring it up to attack the Wii).

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

Ubisoft also have their million selling rabbits.

Tell that to Konami...

@peetee Raving Rabbids was only Ubisoft's decent title on the Wii, and after the sequel the novelty was gone.I think Ubi cant risk another Rabbids title after 3.

Pro Evolution soccer - Half a million sales and it was decent. This game also had a great innovative control scheme and was outsold by console that did not 2/1! And it was outsold 3:1 by a console that had less than half the market share!

Okami - 100k

Trauma centre:Second opinion: -Half a million sales.

All 80+ games so they were good, but what I wonder about is the fact that PES 2008 sold so BADLY on the Wii.

Tease.

They'll just end up selling expensive games to develop to one half of the potential customer pool. They'll just make a lot less money than they could, at least until the stockholdes get pissed.

They will all be punished by Nintendo this/next gen if they are still dominant. Very very awful times are waiting those developers.

^ Its a port, Madden 09 will have better controls than PES. Just to point out, EA was the first 3rd party to get the hang of the controls than Konami did with PES. Madden, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and The Godfather was one of them, theyre rank higher with innovative controls with Boom Blox.

No public owned company can afford to "ditch" the Wii. It's that simple. Sure Epic can do what they want and their core business is pure harcore anyway, but besides them and maybe id-software every other company has to bring quality titles to the Wii or get toasted by the shareholders.

Results have been very bad for software companies lately. PS360 games require enormous investments and their userbase isn't growing very hard.
Wii on the other hand will be around 50 (!) million units sold next april.
Investors know this (hell, I'm sure big investors check VGChartz) and will ask the board why on earth there are no quality titles for the biggest userbase.

Ubisoft is a bad example because they've delivered 2 RRR and Red Steel. You wonder why Red Steel 2 takes so long? Because they didn't expect the Wii to win and now it does they want to make it a quality title. Same with Rygar.

Konami semi-announced Castlevania for Wii. I know it's not MGS but certainly a major franchise. PES already made it to Wii and is selling well.

Capcom: Monster Hunter 3; Tecmo: Fatal Frame and we'll see much more.

Interesting rumours are going on inside SquareEnix at the moment. I'll be amazed if we don't hear anything of them soon.

Konami isn't ditching the Wii. MGS isn't their only franchise. There are rumors of a Castlevania Wii (though this is pretty much certain right now...) and Suikoden VI being on the Wii.

Dont tell it like its confirmed or its barely true, Castlevania was just a rumor, Suikoden VI is more of a wishful thinking like Kingdom Hearts 3.
