Forums - Sony - Sony lost this GEN before it even started

Right from even before the Console was launch Sony cost themselves this Generation. In Trying to innovate and bringing the best, most advanced HD machine to the market, Sony not only lost billions in operations’, but lost exclusives such Assassins Creed, DMC 4, and more. They were so many promises, so much build up hype which in the end Sony couldn’t achieve. They allowed the Xbox to come out first, they assumed third parties would wait for them even as a 360 was already out and was doing ok especially in the strongest market. They told us about all those great games they had coming which we are still waiting for today. And to end the generation for sure, E3 2006 was the final nail in their coffin, $600 for a console. I remember my jaw dropping in the end of that press conference, I couldn’t believe they thought people were going to flock the stores to buy such an expensive item. It was then, they lost this generation. Nintendo was smart, they saw the market that the ds had reached and took advantage of it. They released something new yet affordable. They didn’t over promised, they showed us and delivered. Sometimes, it’s not about how good or bad the console is, it’s about the people making the decisions which Nintendo showed they surely know how to.

what is the point of this thread??

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Uhhh......

Thanks, Captain Obvious? Day in and day out we all hear these same things repeated in separate segments.

As for Assassin's Creed, I'm pretty sure it was on the 360 from the start of development. And Devil May Cry was lost mainly because Capcom was so satisfied with the sales of their games on the 360 (and for good reason).

My thoughts exactly.

Maybe he's getting a bit of the defeatist blues?

@Montana

now at least its doing well + MGS4's round the corner

I just do not understand why he has made this thread..

Assassin' s creed was supposed to be a ps3's exclusives. They lost it because, Ken Kutaragi's slownst in responding to 3rd party support.

 According to his profile, he signed up in 2008. So perhaps he didn't know.

The American markets days as the largest market are counted, and revenue-wise I think Europe is already quite more profitable than America is.

''Hadouken!''

@montana

right....that makes sense now

@AJAX

exactly

EU is the new big market now....DS & PS3 prove this..wii will as well

@Psrock

I wouldn't believe in that story

@Montana: Assassins Creed was supposed to be PS3 exclusive until Ubisoft realised that PS3 sales won't live up to expectations. Sure, it could have been planned as timed exclusive from the start.
