Seems low to me, I would argue it want's similar scores to previous 3D GTAs, like low 90s

However ignoring my opinion I wanted to comment on your comment about driving AI... The other cars have always moved out of your way when you turn on a siren, admitedly it is usually very stupidly (like driving off the side of a bridge to get out of your way). the problem I had was with the police, if you have a siren on in a vigilante mission the police you might pass don't help at all, they don't even move out of the way like other cars.

I actually think Mass Effect is in that ballpark, and far more deserving of accolade than GTA IV.

God I don't. The technical problems alone in the game keep it from reaching AAA status, imo. I had severe issues with in game glitches and loading problems. On at least 2 seperate occasions, the game froze during a loading screen for me, and the elevators from one area to the next really slowed down the pace of the game. It was also very easy, assuming you picked the base soilder class(whatever that is called, I forget) as you can infinately spam an invincibility spell. Immunity or whatever it was called.

 

The game was good, and had an amazing story, no doubt, but it just had so many technical issues and felt completely unfinished. I kept getting the feeling I was beta testing and actually said to myself, "When this game is released, it's gonna be one of the best games of all time." Then I realized I was playing the finished version. 8.5/10 is a fair score, imo.

Oh, I agree with you on the technical issues; I think I got stuck in a wall at least three or four times and had to re-load my most recent save, not to mention the controls for the Mako being a mess.  The thing is, I found that the game transcended those flaws and was compelling enough for me to do four complete playthroughs.  I haven't done that since Ocarina of Time.  Even though the flaws were annoying, I barely thought about them and just wanted to keep playing.  In GTA IV, the flaws are in the gameplay and basic design, rather than the technical execution, and the most interesting parts of the game are those that have no interaction whatsoever, being watched rather than played.
