Is due to a couple of factors IMO:

First a predominant color help with the details, the lack of details is less noticiable...

Second is for the feeling, one game has success with a grey enviroment and then more games are grey, brown... etc... because colors are so last gen and childish... is just a trend... a bad trend...

BTW they are good enviroments with more colors, like Crysis, Bioshock or the Orange Box...

Also, learn to spell Grey.

And if you look at only mature, gritty, and dark games, than they're not going to be too colorful. The Wii doesn't have nearly as many of these sorts of games, so it might seem like a more "colorful" system. The PS3 and 360 have lots of games with drab colors because, let's face it, that's how those sorts of environments would look in real life.

Agreement with Naz. A select few games decided that they wanted to go for a darker color tone. Considering that you only named off one game for each console, once Madworld comes out I'll be expecting you to ask why all Wii games are in Black and White :P

Just from a glance, the 5th screenshot is most likely Folklore. Don't quote me on that though.

No, he doesn't have to try to state a fact. Many publishers making realistic graphics, tend to dull their games by given them a greyish hue. Killzone 2 and Gears of War 2 are two of the biggest offenders, judging from their screenshots.

Even Yhatzee mentions it in his latest review. It's a disturbing trend.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. I'd throw Gears of War 2, and Killzone 2 in the trash to play a demo of a new game like Okami, or Mirror's Edge. Not only do I find their artstyle uninspired, but more importantly the single player campaign in Gears one, which I recently completely, was severely dissapointing.

The real world, war zones and slums, is very brown and grey. They are trying to make it realistic.
