What company has Clover turned into again?

Hopefully that answers your question...

Besides, how come you "never got the chance" to play it on the PS2? What amazing factor prevented you from buying it? I hear that all the time and I'm starting to think that people just neglected a good game.

Coming from the Okami based Avatar, lol.

Anyway, it's a good game and I enjoyed it. I think a sequel would be cool, but only if it's at least on par with the experience provided with the first game.

I'd be pissed if a sequel came out and sucked.

I hope for stellar european sales which would strenghten the chances for a sequel, but most probably it won't happen.

Saying that, i'm not even sure if i want Okami sequel. It's same feeling like with Matrix movies, i thought that sequel would ruin the franchise, but was nevertheless excited when they announced the sequels. Too bad my fears were right (atleast for the 3rd one, 2nd one was bearable because of the highway scene)

.

It's not poor sales that make it impossible for a sequel, it's the fact that the people with rights to the IP aren't the same as the people who developed it.

In order for a proper sequel to be made, Platinum Games(I think that's what Clover studios reformed as) would either have to buy the rights from Capcom, or essentially be hired by capcom as an external team to work on the sequel.
Either possibility is highly unlikely and would be incredibly rare occurence within the industry as a whole. I think I've heard of one other case in which a reformed studio bought rights from the parent company for a game they worked on whiel in that parent company, but i can't remember what it is.

Now its different if all you're asking is; "will there will be any game called Okami 2?"
In my opinion actually stands a good chance. While it may not be have any of the quality that Okami brought out when it was done by clover, it's likely to be tapped on if only for the unique character pool.
If there isn't a full Wii version made, then I'd say there's a good shot at being a DS version made.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

I don't really want a sequel for Okami, because the folks who were in Clover would not be able to make it.

The difference is, Okami on the PS2 got lost in the shuffle of hundreds of amazing games. It was easy to overlook it. On the Wii it's one of a few amazing titles so it's not as easy to ignore it now for those wanting a great gaming experience.

It's a pity to not make a sequel and to discard the combination of such a wonderful worldview and unique art style. But I don't think Kamiya has ever worked as director on a sequel to his previous work. He tends to work on new stuff as far as I remember.

While it's true that Okami is "one of the amazing few" to grace the Wii, that does not mean Okami has an appealing factor to the mainstream gamers. In fact, I'm certain now that Okami never had any appeal to the regular gamers rather than "it got lost among the shuffle of the great PS2 library." Capcom can try again with a sequel and release it to every platform known but I doubt it will successful.

well i believe okami will have a sequel sooner or later capcom is happy with wii sales in if okami 2 is properly advertised the game could be as successful as Zelda
