Details:

-Play with over 40 instruments: Maracas, Folk Guitars, Trumpets, Marimbas, Bass Guitars, Drums, etc.
-Drums allow two Wii Mote usage
-4 Player simultaneous play
-Wii Mote tilt functionality is used. So for example, holding the Wii Mote up will produce stronger Trumpet Sounds, while holding it low will produce softer sounds

Sounds interesting. I wonder how detailed the music making would be. I don't think it would be on the Fruit Loops program level though.

So what will the point of this game be?

Guitar Hero/Rock Band like? (I mean how the notes on certain things are played)
Or is it just freestyling instruments?
Make your own music?
Or music pre-installed?
Licensed tracks?

From what little info I have been able to gather, it will be more about "freestyling", or putting your own touches to the music. I've heard nothing absolutely concrete about it though. Someone here posted a link to a NYTimes article/interview with Miyamoto yesterday, here is a quote from the article that addresses that...

"Nintendo is expected to release more details about Wii Music this summer, but the basic concept is that while popular music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band allow players only to recreate canned tunes, Wii Music will try to enable users to capture the feelings of composition and improvisation."

And a quote from Miyamoto himself...

“We’re trying to create an experience where people are very simply able to get the feeling like maybe they’re creating music,”.

So improv/freestyling seems to be a part of the idea, but who knows how big a part it will play.

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."
