Forums - Nintendo - Wii memory usage thread (find out Wiiware space usage)

Where is the option in the game to install it? I've never seen the option.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

People I need both the channel blocks and save blocks.... preferably from the same person as I am unsure whether they will differ.

If everyone can update the posts above with the save blocks as well then I will be grateful (perhaps communal cookie picture grateful)

@DarkNight, try your instruction booklet, it will explain it better than I can.

@Oyvoyvoyv. Do you really have that many VC games or was that list from elsewhere?

I am including Faz's SSBB save file, as well as the metroid channel, but I will wait till I get the save blocks corresponding to each persons game/channel till I add those (mainly so I don't get confused adding them later)

Sin & Punishment -- N64: 287.

I am down to less than 700 blocks available. I hope there is a memory solution soon (my issue is saves for 35-40 games).

Mike from Morgantown

PS -- I think my Internet only takes up 233 (I will double-check and confirm).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

^remember to look for the save block your internet takes up as well as channel blocks. (same for S & P)

Some more I forgot to add...

VC Channels:
Excitebike: 21 Blocks (save: 1 Block)

Wii game saves:
Okami: 11 Blocks
Dragon Quest Swords: 2 Blocks
No More Heroes: 1 Block
Raving Rabbids: 4 Blocks
Raving Rabbids 2: 1 Block
Lego Star Wars: 2 Blocks
Metroid Prime 3: 1 Block
Super Paper Mario: 1 Block

Incidentally, I do think it's a good idea to note games which take up more than even just 1 block for their saves.  My own system's down to 9 blocks free now (no joke), so even a slightly larger save file size is noteworthy.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Thanks Skyrender.

Also can I ask what you have used the Mii contest/check Mii out channel for, because your save file is only 1 block and mine is 2.

I have only added 1 or 2 Miis to the channel I think, and entered 3 competitions, although I do have a decent number of favourited Miis (probably 30-40)... I am interested to get to the bottom of the differences.

Similarly if everyone can post the internet channel data (with extra info) I would like to figure that out.

I wouldn't mind some more contributions.

If anyone has their Wii handy it doesn't take too long to check a few numbers.

I am wanting to compile this as an average, mainly because some channels games are quite different for each person (In the link Mafoo posted the internet channel uses 20 fewer blocks than on my own Wii) so check all your games/channels and post them (preferably alphabetically) and I can find averages etc.

I'll try to check and see if I have any data not already presented here the next time I'm at my Wii.

Thanks for putting this together, TWRoO. Now I know that I need to clear ~100 blocks on my Wii for when I get Mario Kart. Gotta weed out those N64 games that I'm not actively playing. :/

How much memory each block uses? 512MiB of memory is how many blocks?

Wow, I am so out of space :P

Still not sure how big a block is - around 200k is my guess.
