DQIX is being developed for the DS. It usually takes longer to develop for the PS3 than to develop for the DS so it could be delayed a little longer. Level 5 is not one of those companies that would release shovelware. None of the games they have released were bad as all of their games have ranged from decent to excellent in terms of quality.

Oh common, DQ9 is long done, but is only hold up because Squeenix wishes to release first a bunch of DQ remakes to hype the game on the DS. Yah, like it needs any hype... right....

I really don't think even S-E think DQ9 needs remakes of games before it for hype.

maybe its just genuinely not done..

I know what you mean,  a Dragon Quest game gets a lot of hype in Japan just by getting annouced.  The Japanese love that series so much that when one of the main intallments is released, it's practially a national event there.  Even the children that play the series(in Japan) don't mind its 'traditional' mechanics

FF and Pokemon games are still release on school days though Dragon Quest is indeed a different story

ok.....but Pokemons much bigger than DQ in Japan.

& some FF's have been bigger as well.

WKC screens make me drool like crazy. Level 5 really know how the PS3 works. I wish SEGA were more like them.

They've literally said it themselves, they were planning to release the DQ remakes to create more hype for the DQ9 release. I found that the biggest dumb ass excuse I've ever heard. After Final Fantasy 8 or 7 Japan decided not to release a major title like that during weekdays. Schools were closing as teachters and students wanted to play the game. Not very good for the national education. Riachu, from what I can see Valkyrie Chronicles looks pretty nice? On the other hand, what does Sega right on every console these days?
