I could see this being the SMG for the PS3. Sales will be good but under the expectations of some. Great game but not broad appeal.

On topic though... how many preorders did DMC4 have? Any? Maybe it's just a case that more people are planning to just show up and pick it up then you expect.

Every MGS has outsold every DMC in Japan..

MGS4 will have HUGE legs....especially in NA. Think about it. The reintroduction of the 80 GB sku bundled with MGS4. Look how many copies Motorstorm sold because it was BUNDLED with the 80 GB ps3 (Motorstorm wounldn't have sold CRAP if it was bundled). MGS4 will do the same.

And Europe isn't in those figures either...

If MGS4 sells +750,000 copies in the first week between Japan, America, and Europe, I'd be thrilled...epecially with the amount it will sell with all the ps3 bundles over the following months.

This might not be true 100% of the time but most pre-order figures for Japan are retail, not consumer level.

Since when have preorders been such a huge percentage of the overall first week sales?

I would of thought that it would have been at least under half. Or perhaps people have different buying habits in other parts of the world, I dunno.

Thats a great amount when you think about it.

500,000 sales first day, and none of those to customers going out to buy the game!

So that alone puts the numbers over 640.000 and then we still have to wait for the numbers of that small other part of the world called the rest of the freaking world.

Don't worry, the game isn't even released yet and more preorders come rolling in every day. MGS4 will surely make a million or more in preorders alone.

EDIT: the numbers are from the end of April? it's almost the end of may now, the numbers are completely outdated and don't even give a good perspective of it's current state anymore. One week old figures perhaps, but a month? Come on, lighten up.

I mean Yojimbo is right, most people that will buy the game will get it from a store!

not everybody who is getting this game is pre-ordering it. also, don't forget that the bundles count as sales aswell. should do close to 1 million first week in my opinion.
