Yes, as long as it is a SATA based notebook drive. There is a tutorial on how to do it on youtube.
Congratulations. If you want more games, definitely get Warhawk with Omega Dawn and Broken Mirror. This game has the most addicting multiplayer I've ever played. Of course, the only other game I ever played online is Resistance (also great), but Warhawk is just incredible.
If you follow these guys' advice about getting Warhawk, don't forget to join the Warhawk league. It is a great place to learn how to play.
Congrats on your purchase. Will you just play Resistance solo or will you play online? Don't bother getting its map packs, they never come up in the rotation.
@ Dogs Rule
I'll do it solo first. I think online will come after if I still find it fun after 1 player mode. Mortal Kombay 2 online is going to be my main online game for now...hope lots of people are playing.
Everyone is saying good things about Warhawk and Uncharted so yeah...those are future must buys. Problem with owning all 3 systems is catching up with older great games and playing the new titles. I am playing these odler games till Ninja Gaiden 2...then NG2 hopefully is done by MGS4... My schedule seems booked till christmass...lol.
I think Uncharted is way overrated, but try the demo to see if you like it.

welcome to the triple owners club!
i respectfully disagree with you on the OS front, i find the ps3 system much better than the wii or 360 OS its much slicker and much much quicker, you are able to find your content wether it be games music films pictures easily
enjoy your new system
if i can put in a quick recomendation try pain or tekken 5 there both great and cheap also
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

| disolitude said: In getting ready for MGS4 I was able to pick up a brand new 40 GB unit yesterday. I also picked up Resistance. This was my first PS3 gaming experience outside my friends place and my thoughts thus far are generally positive. The hardware seems impressive, it runs very quietly and doesn't heat up at all. Whats up with the whole "download" time and then "install" time? Mortal kombat 2 took 5 minutes to download as its almost 300 megs for some reason...and then another 4 mins to install. In comparison, UMK3 on the 360 is 40 megs which downloads and is ready to go in pretty much 1 minute. Haze demo took months to be ready... Menus as well are quite confusing. Took me 10 minutes to find the demo for haze as it wasn't listed under demos. When you start a download you have an option to navigate the network and put the downloads in the background... Then on top of the screen there is "view downloads" button. When you go there it will show you your downloads...seems easy thus far. However when you click on your download to see the progress, it will start downloading it AGAIN! There is another menu on the main screen where you check for progress apparently. In any case, I look forward to playing the awesome ps3 exclusives but I can finally understand why people say that Sony is a hardware company... The should hire Microsoft or Apple for PS4 to do them a decent OS. :) |
Congrats on the purchase. You'll get use to all the menus.
I agree on download speeds.
As far as the software...all I can say is that it's IMPROVING bigtime. Lol, you should have seen it when the ps3 launched. If they continue to improve it at this rate, it will be competitive within a year or two. So, while I do agree with you, it is definitely getting better quickly.

Thanks man.
I can't understand how you can think PS3's OS is better and quicker than 360 or even Wii's...from the gamer perspective. It does have more functions off the bat as ps3 is a media center powerhouse...but I wish there was a theme I could apply to it which would give it "Gamer only" layout. 80% of that stuff there I do not need...
Everything seems like it was unecessarily categorized... When you put a game, video, whatever disk in the 360, you can launch it form every screen. On the PS3...I have to go back to the main menu, find the games tab and then go through all the games I have to find the one I just put it. I didn't put it in there cause I want to store it in my ps3...I wanna play it...right away!!! :)
360 and Wii OS's are focused more for gamers where PS3 wants to do everything from what I see thus far. Wii has by far the easiest layout and navigation in my opinion but it also offers 30% of what the other 2 offer.
