Forums - Sony - Will Metal Gear Sold 4 Need a HDD Install?

Sony,

do you like seeing me cry? ;_;

Your getting the 80GB bundle right?  You'll be able to buy at least 12 or thirteen games (taking into account saves and DLC etc) before you have to upgrade.

That is of course assuming future games dont continue the trend of larger and larger installs.

Hopefully by next year when I get one Sony will have put out a more viable option for us PAL gamers........

fixed for you. the installs are not permanent, they can be removed an reinstated whenever you like. no need to twist it.

I didn't twist it?

Do you really think its reasonable on a CONSOLE to have to uninstall and reinstall games when you want to play them?

no i don't, which is why i made the thread. but you're making it seem as if the user will HAVE to upgrade once they max out their space. not taking into account that not all installs are that big, most are only 2gb. nobody plays 12-13 games at a time, hell i'm barely playing 2 at a time, so they can remove installs that they won't play for a while or not even own anymore. and even if you wanted to upgrade, it wouldn't cost you more than $50 for a 160gb hard drive for the ps3, unlike the 360 hard drive where it will cost you like $150 for 120gb, or $50 for 20gb.

it is a burden i know, but it's not one that will have to cost money, it's just something that requires more attention, which i think sony is fault for not bringing it to their customers attention.

Remember, we can't be sure whether we'll have to install that. Oblivion didn't require an install (it didn't even offer one) yet it put a 5.5 GB file on the HDD. Could be same here.

My point is that while it most likely requires an install, this is not a confirmation. It could be just some random file put there in the background. Or maybe not. We can't know yet.

Just as reasonable as I think it is for you to be trolling PS3 Forums. Every time I enter a PS3 forum, you're in it derailing it.

You have nothing better to do with your time, other then bash a console you didn't buy? WTF?

Remember the people who have got the 20gig ps3 and even the 40gig most casual gamers do not want to have to play around with there system and have to buy and place a new hard drive inside these people buy a console and just want to play games on it. There is one thing I wouldlike to ask it might seem dumb but your saved games do they go after you uninstall? If so this would suck big time as most people dont finnish games before moving on to the next.

if it put 5.5gb on the hdd, then i personally would count that as some form of install. as it's not dumping it there for no reason, it needs the data to be there.

No you don't lose your save games.

Its quite easy to spot in Game Data subsection, but I guess it could be more automated.

Still all the installs I've seen so far have been pretty painless, and will increase the life of the bluray diode (due to less access) I'm all for them.

well i have a 40gig and have 10 bluray games and 4 psn games with 12gig left so 80gig will be plenty, unless you save a lot of files to hd.

but best bet is to upgrade the hd if your a core player, i might get an 80gig for £24.99

i reckon for about 90% a 40gig would do fine, but only the users who buy loads of games a year may need an upgrade, thank god an upgrade is cheap
