Forums - Sales - Now Do You Think Nintendo Will Reach 50% Market?

I've been looking at sales for a while and at their percentages, I've seen the PS3 get some of the Xbox's market while the Wii has taken a bit from both. It wasn't long ago we saw the wii at 40%, not it's at 45.4, the highest it has been. So, with the increase of console and game sales for the Wii and a continuous "dominance" over the PS3 and the 360 week in and week out in sales, do you think Nintendo will manage to get 50% of the market? If not, why not and if so, by when? Many think it will be by the end of this year. I think it would be possible but they would really need to release something soon or atleast announce it by E3.

Of, course. It has to happen by the end of this year or early next year or it won't happen at all.

It will pass 50% this year, im not sure how long it will stay there though.

If it makes it past 50% it won't come back ...

Yeah by dec 31 it will happen and from there it will only go up.

Why don't you think it will stay there? I sure see Wii sales decreasing (sometime) but this will be the case for the PS3 and the 360 aswell. You may say "the PS3 can lower the price and so will the 360" but notice the Wii still has many things up it's sleve. Colored Wii Motes, colored Wii's, bindles, price cuts... Anything ALREADY DONE by the competition can still be done by Nintendo, and if GTAIV didn't knock Wii out of its leadership, what will? It certainly won't be an exclusive to either the PS3 or the 360, we all know the Halo 3 case. Unless some huge announcement is made for the 360 and PS3 I don't see how the Wii, sitting at 50%, will lower.

im not so sure, i think Wii sales may even out at some point and 360 or PS3 sales might improve enough at some point to drop it to 49%, i doubt it will drop below 48% though.

Personally, I suspect that as third party games are being completed for the PS2 and PSP a lot of those developers are being put onto Wii projects because of how popular it has been and how familiar these development teams are with projects of that size. If the Wii crosses that 50% mark I suspect that a psychological barrier would be crossed and Wii development could become the focus of all publishers at the expense of PS3 and XBox 360 development. This would be a brutal combination of factors which would hurt demand for the PS3 and XBox 360 while boosting demand for the Wii.

All depends on E3 >.> that's the point, if Nintendo can effectively over shadow their competitors then your looking at 50% by November.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

Since the X360 will reach lifetime sales of 50 million, and the PS3 70 million (by 2012) a 50% marketshare would mean the Wii exceeds 120 million. That's pretty cool.
