Forums - Gaming - Dissapointments of this generation

http://reelgamers.com/games/dis.html

I knew that Lair, Blue dragon and assasin's creed were dissapointments. But not Mario Kart wii (who the only ones that complaint are hardcore fanboys) and Devil May cry 4....personally I haven't played any of those games so far.

...do you agree with that list?

Blue dragon shifted more Xbox 360's than any other game in Japan, and got a ridiculously high score from Famitsu. How was it a disappointment?

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

And lost odyssey? It's the first JRPG to do decent numbers on the Xbox 360 in the West? Not to mention it has certainly been profitable given its numbers.

Did he say LO?

The main ones are Haze and lair

I agree with most of the list, but Mario Kart really does stand out and I'm wondering whether they choose it so that they wouldn't be "Picking-On" the PS3 and XBox 360. To demonstrate my point, the games they recommend instead of Mario Kart are Forza 2 and Gran Turismo 5 prologue; two games that are not on the Wii, and for many (potentially most) Mario Kart fans would be about as much fun as watching paint dry. I'm not trying to knock these two games but when people are disapointed with Mario Kart Wii (which is fair) they're probably not looking to race for 4 weeks in their pimped out Ford Pinto for the opportunity to buy a Honda Civic and pimp it out to race some more in the eventual hopes of being able to race an interesting car (yes, that is an extreme exageration, but it is how a lot of kart racing fans feel about racing sims).

Which numbers?

It's sold 660k, how do you deduce profitability from that?

The revenue is 39.6 million.

@Starcraft. Numbers don't lie indeed, but dissapointments deal with the pre and post effect of a game. How much do we want to play it, and how satisfied are we with the endresult.
Lost odyssee flew under the radar somewhat I feel, but blue dragon... well it isn't like I wanted to pull a X360 from out of the shelf before or after the game. I thus cannot say I'm disappointed, but I can understand why others would be.

Same goes for MKWii to some extent. Online is great, multi is a blast but the singleplayer GP's are just cruel. And that does temper the initial hype somewhat. It is not a huge disppointment (I wouldn't put it at 5) but it's still a disappointment somewhat.

because it was completely a copy of every other RPG ever made... and it didnt sell that well.
