Forums - Sony - Official haze review topic.

I have to say that, upon reading the review, it makes a lot of pretty good points. I mean, you may not agree with the opinion but it's got reasons for the opinions.

To me, it sounds like the devs knew their FPS was pretty run of the mill and uninspired and tried to put a coat of paint (nectar) over the top, but it was pretty superficial and flawed. I can see why someone might knock it down a bit for that. I'd rather have a dull straightup FPS than something that forces a "Creative" but majorly flawed artificial gameplay mechanic on top of it.

True for non-FPS too. (I'm looking at you Banjo Ka-Threeieee or whatever)

All the reviewers that I trust the most have said this game is terrible. IGN in particular. Sony rolled out another Lair here. There goes another exclusive just like 2007.

Misinformed much?

In no way did I say they deved it. LOL. Saying Sony I meant it was Exclusive like Lair. They payed money for exclusive of very mediocre game.

You have know idea if they paid money for this exclusive thats an assumption and you know what happens when you assume.

I am still excited for this game even though i am disappointed by the IGN review...i mean not there review but that they did not like it. I hope it is fun, which is really all i care about.

Ok lets look at this, Haze was originally to be out on PS3 and 360. Then all of a sudden it's not coming out on a platform which it would sell far better on. Definately, I repeat definately not a business move unless there was compensation involved. If you think otherwise you have to be stupid.

All I can say is ouch. I think I'll just keep my free demo and -maybe- rent the game. If I like it enough, then I'll pick it up for cheap later on. I almost always agree with IGN reviews, so I'm kind of disappointed that this game apparently turned out so bad.

You sounded like you're blaming Haze's bad reviews on Sony. Either way, bad exclusive games happens to everyone. How was Sony supposed to know that paying for an exclusive FPS that happens to be published by one of the strongest video game brands in the world and developed by the same team that made Golden Eye, perfect dark and time splitters was NOT a good idea at the time? Same goes for Factor 5 in making a flight action game. Not every exclusive game comes out great, so saying "Oh look, Sony payed for *another* crappy exclusive" is hardly waranted. Do we need to say "Oh look Microsoft paid for another crappy exclusive" when another TenchuZ or Shadow run game gets released?

Wow, IGN reviewed Haze lower than Turning Point: Fall of Liberty?! Having played that game I really wonder what Haze did to be considered "worse"?

It also got rated lower than Turok and The Darkness.  Now based purely on demos, I'd rate Haze higher than both of those games.  I think all the hype of this game hurt the review score.

I mean, he complains about the AI taking cover behind object, but still sticking out.  As if that didn't happen in every battle in Gears of War?

Cause Sony had anything to do with the development process...Ubisoft made this game.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Ouch. Reading the reviews, this looks like it's going to be a huge flop.

@akuma: Ubisoft published the game, Free Radical made it.

From wired.com:

"Tom Chick at Quarter to Three hasn't written a full review, but tells his readers: "Haze is utter and complete tripe. If I can prevent just one of you from throwing away money on this underdone turd of a shooter, I will be happy.""
