What should Nintendo do after Wii or DS gets discontinued? This might be years later but Nintendo can make prototypes of future consoles. Got any ideas?

Home console- Make a camara that literally puts you in the game. Maybe like an Eyetoy for PS2 but more complex.

Handheld- Make something like a DS but more complex. Put some internet like PSP. Get better games and better graphics. Smaller, lightweight, and colorful!

*cough cough* I disagree with this >.> graphics would be fine, and I mean, better games would be cool, but you make it sound as if they're bad^^; Dual touch screens :3 EBA would get crazy with that. sheesh. Maybe more "touch only" oriented games, those always seem to be addictive^^

anyway, for the Wii2, if technology gets far enough, virtual reality :3 either a helmet or like, a full body suit type thing (that's easy enough to get on) That'd be cool, other than that I dunno.

Home Console
- Better Motion Controls
-Graphics 3-6 times more powerful than ps3
- Virtual Reality
-Nintendo's propriety blu-ray drive or propreity sd.
- Focused on getting online right

Hand held
- Both screens touch are touch screens, and the screens are wider than the dses.
-Replace D-pad with sub-analog or analog stick.
-Accelerometer capable of detecting motion.
-Better touch screen
- Graphics equivalent to xbox-wii maybe even more powerful than the wii.

I find it interesting that the speculation always runs along the lines of improving what's been done successfully, and never on making what failed in the past work right this time around... Especially in light of the fact that this is what sets the Wii and DS apart from their competition, and that Nintendo's stated that their new mission is to "disrupt before they get disrupted". Improving what's there already won't do that.

My own bet is pretty much along the same lines as Tokoro's: Nintendo will most likely tackle virtual reality next. But in the classic accessible Nintendo fashion: nothing complicated, just a simple system-in-the-headgear device and a glove (possibly two, but only if they can make them available for sale for under $40). But the real genius will be its compatibility with either the Wii or their next home console system. What better way to bypass the television format issue than to give a better gaming-related alternative to using a television? It will seriously piss off the HDTV crowd, but most will be thankful for the expansion into a new realm of possibility (such as near-1:1 head tracking), and won't care that it means that their TV is no longer required for gaming.

Hmmm... I'm actually wondering about the size of Nintendo's next console. I mean, their home consoles have been getting smaller and smaller since, right? Although it's not like Nintendo's console can't get smaller, the Wii right now is actually pretty small. Does that mean they are going to reverse that trend by the next console? =/

Wider screens are the most useless thing i could think of, it wouldn't work, the same for two touchscreen, all they need to do are provide screens/sound on a par with the next psp, improve graphics, add built in rumble and motion sensor (ala warioware twisted) and a web browser, as for wii, who knows

i could the headlines if nintendo makes a virtual reality console.

on topic: the wii2 should be much small, and I think it will add to the motion sensors, bt not that much maybe they will add the legs.
