Forums - General - My local Best Buy must hate Blu-Ray...

So I was at Best Buy and after I found what I was looking for I looked around like I usually do.  I walk through the DVD section first and after I finished walking all the aisles I notice I missed the Blu-Ray section.  I thought it was funny that I completely missed it and walked through again.  Again, I didn't see it.

Hmm, weird.  Oh well I thought and kept browsing around the store.  When I was about ready to leave I decided to give the section one more walk through.  This time I happened to look down and I noticed some blue tape going across the floor with blue arrows.

Odd.

I follow the tape and it winds out of the DVD section, through the TV's section, and all the way to the back remote corner of the store.  Tucked away in that nice little corner was their Blu-Ray section.

I suppose it was nice they had that completely not obvious blue arrow tape showing me the way but that was a little.  Blu-Ray already has enough problems selling but for some odd reason they decided it would be cool to tuck the entire Blu-Ray section in a back corner of the store.

I'm so sure everyone noticed the random blue tape on the ground and I'm sure all those people that did happen to notice it decided to follow the tape.

Way to go Best Buy.

At least the tape was blue. lol

Probably will stay that way till the sale of standalone blu-ray players shoot up. Right now they really aren't any better off then when they were in a format war with HD-DVD.

Yea, damn them for not dedicating shelf space to a product selling poorly! How dare they choose to make the products that sell better more visible.

Seriously if you're buying blu-ray at the moment there's a 99% chance you're a tech geek and already know what you're looking for.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

In an, um, real market where vendors didn't have influence over what shops stock, I'm not so sure there would be a Blu-ray "section" at all. I think that Sony is really pushing stores to put Blu-ray branding everywhere but if for example a toaster was getting the same sales as Blu-ray they may not stock it at all.

Yeah, but the point is even if you're looking for Blu-Ray movies you'll still have trouble finding them.  Believe me, that arrow was in no way obvious.  It took me three passes through the movie section to notice the blue tap on the floor because I was too busy looking at the actual product and not the floor.

Also, it's not like the Blu-Ray section was by the high end TV's, they were off in a little corner with the lower end TV's.

I understand they don't want to waste precious shelf space but you would also think they want to sell this stuff.

I'm going to Best Buy today to pick up National Treasure 2.  I'll have to let you know if my store did a similar thing or not.

That's petty lousy. Maybe they were banking on HD-DVD to win. They seem to be the only location on Earth that still has stock of 360 HD-DVD addons. I just bought one the other day through their online store with some credit I had built up. Maybe they're just bitter about it and this is all one big conspiracy against Blu Ray and Microsoft is thowing money towards them to sabotage the BR win.
