I also would like to say i never said the PS3 would win out so the whole point of how many sony needs to sell is mute. My point is likely by this time next year if not sooner the Wii and PS3 will be selling at a similar ratethat alone would make it hard for the Wii to finish by more than 50 million. At best case scenarios for the Wii by the end of this year things would stand at Wii 38mil, 360 24 mil, PS3 19 mil, a 19 mill lead. you expect me to believe the Wii can add another 30 mil over the course of this gen with Sony releasing it's traditional linup of Ip's throughout??

Yes most likely. At the rate the Wii is selling, at least. And that is the only predictor we have. If you include handhelds, this becomes a totally different ball game though

Yeah yeah I know, I was just kinda combining them with their revolutionary predecessors.

Nintendo had a huge revolution and then Sony had a bigger one.  Nintendo's at it again, and it's the biggest one ever.

Of course, the Game Boy and DS were also revolutions, so i'd say Nintendo's having its 4th right now...

I never said anything about fad, but do you honestly think Big name franchises that are on the PS3 and 360 are going to ccome to the Wii? Right now if your a 3rd party developer. there is more money to be made making games for the HD systems. even with that 38, 24, 19 split i mentuioned has a 43 34 userbase lead. Are you expecting GTA, Assasins creed, Gears of War, etc. etc. etc. on the Wii? Yes the wii will get allot of 3rd party support, 3rd party shovelware support.

many people who bought the PS2 didn't know anything about big IPs and great series, a huge part of the sales of the PS2 came from casual sales, people buying these things for their kids and kids just wanting to play computergames, just like now with the Wii

 There is not more money to be made on the HD systems.  There is more money to be lost on them however, as you dump all your money into graphics and development hell.

 It's cheaper and easier to develop for the Wii, and you can make 3 or 4 games for the WII in the same amount of time as 1 HD game, and... save money.

 This means more shovelware and more great new games.  It worked for the PS2.  Or do you think the PS2 won 'cuz of GTA and GT and FF and MGS?

It's expensive to develope for HD consoles now, as each year in a gen oges by Software development gets cheaper. I also think your GTA, GT, MGS remark is a little short sided. the PS2 ahd AAA games throughout it's entire lifespan.
