It's Famitsu. Anyone who uses their reviews as a reputable source should be shot.

I will shoot them again just to be sure.
Tease.
While good news for Haze (i'm backing on Haze to be a bigger hit than Killzone, only to piss off the PS3 fanboys who buried Haze after hyping it's exclusitivity), I don't exactly trust famitsu anymore.
Where once it was a tough critic that seem to be a deadzone for non-japanese developed games, these days while still being heavily Japanese biased, it's been giving a few games high scores they didn't deserve (not naming Haze specifically, but games like BD).

Blue Dragon didn't score as well in the US because US gamers generally are more into shooters and sports games than JRPGs

The four reviewers all praise the different play styles of the ally troopers and the enemy army, with both sides having interesting strengths and weaknesses. Global online play, an interesting scenario mode, and beautiful graphics are all mentioned as positives for the western-developed game. However, most of the reviewers complain that the event scenes feature too much shaking. The game is recommended to sci-fi fans and FPS players of all levels. For the 1UP opinion on Haze check out our preview of the recent demo and watch for a review after the game's release. We'd have one sooner, but... you know. |
34/40 is 8.5/10. Will the PS3 finally get its 9/10 exclusive?
Old news is old. Also, Famitsu is fairly worthless since they themselves say they give games scores based on hype and what their fans want.

I'm finding it hard to believe Japanese gamers hyped this crap.
Good news for Haze ,it has received a 89 in the only review I have seen in paper mags in my country.
Still ,it will sell few units in Japan no matter what Famitsu says.If its lucky it can get to 50 000 units.Managing some 75-80K units like Lair would be a BIG succes out there.

Believe what you want, it still doesn't change the fact Famitsu gives reviews based on what their fans want to see.
So their Haze review could be every bit true and the score could actually be right but it still doesn't change the fact I'm not going to give two craps about whatever score they give. As for their written review, I can't read Japanese so I really don't care about that part either.
