Forums - Nintendo - The competition has played their cards!

Thats right the competition has shown gamers everything they can expect to see released this year. Let me be to first to say that they have released some pretty impressive demo's for some of the most anticipated games of the year.

KillZone2 , Resistance2 , MetalGearSolid4 , Socom:Confrontation, Siren:BloodCurse, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, LittleBigPlanet. All of the games Sony is getting ready to launch this fall were on display at Gamers Day 08. Sony showed off everything it is going to offer this fall. I have to admit Sony did a far better job in essembling this years fall line-up then they did last year. It would appear the console is about to peak with multiple shooters and some great first party content.

Microsoft's Spring Showcase 08 was also nothing to balk at showing off Microsoft's fall line up in all of its glory. The sequels to some of Microsoft's biggest properties took the world by storm when BanjoKazooie:NutsAndBults , GearsOfWar2, Fable2 and HaloWars. But alongside Microsoft's more established franchises VivaPinata:TroubleInParadise and AloneInTheDark also made their debut.

Konami also released almost everything it has to offer during Gamers Day 08 celebrations. With a new DDRUniverse3, DDR Hottest Party 2(Wii), SilentHill:Homecoming, HellBoy:ScienceOfEvil, RockRevolution. Konami really had alot of support to show for Microsoft and Sony's consoles this Gamers Day setting the bar pretty high for competitors.

What did Nintendo showcase to celebrate this fall line-up? Nothing ziltch Nadda. Of course MadWorld and The Conduit were announced during the Gamer Day festivities. But what will we be seeing from Nintendo in light of such heavy weight competition from both Microsoft and Sony?

Where's Donkey Kong to take on Banjo , where's StarFox , Pikmin3 , AnimalCrossing...etc...etc...

Fact is Nintendo has yet to actually unviel its fall 2008 lineup. With what the competition has shown and what third parties are already beginning to show I think this fall will be an awsome time to be a gamer. So when will Nintendo show off its fall line-up?

E3 , E for All , TGS(Not likely) Nintendo's fall 2008 Press event (Already to late for the fall line-up). A new SpaceWorld show?

I wonder how late Nintendo will wait to unviel its fall, winter lineup?

I can't wait to play the new Banjo&Kazooie game, I've had so much fun with the first 2 games. I hope it will release on the Wii, prolly not

MK7!! 3DS friend code: 0688 - 5579 - 0994

Also playing DotA2 beta!

I can't see Nintendo annoucing more than two first-party games for the rest of this year. They simply don't need to release all their big hitters right now, the demand for the hardware isn't showing any signs of letting up.

Whoa whoa whoa. Doesn't Nintendo announce games at E3?

SMG and SSBB at E3 06, release dates at 07. And WiiFit.

You can not make assumptions until E3.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

E3, I think that is fairly obvious.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

We're looking at a 0.01% chance.

It's kind of interesting to see the changing strategies each company is taking. Microsoft thinks they're done with Sony, so they're now attempting to take on Nintendo with the X-Mote, Banjo, and more casual games. Sony is still trying to chase after Microsoft, announcing and updating us on several new shooters. And Nintendo sits there content, knowing that they don't have to say a thing.

I'm crossing my fingers for an epic Wii Donkey Kong. Peanut Gun+Wii Zapper=Too cool for school.

It's like you forgot that Nintendo doesn't start hyping things years in advance, they usually do it months in advance.

Microsoft owns rare now, so it's going to the 360.

I'm sorry but that strategy is fairly new, in the past Nintendo has always been the company that announced games years in advance. The change in strategy is still fairly new. Infact many Wii games like "Disaster:DayOfCrisis" were announced back before the Wii was even availible yet have not hit shelves.

Nintendo's supposed new strategy of announcing titles only months in advance is so new it only really started last fall. I mean Mario Galaxy and Brawl were both announced over a year in advance!

Were still waiting on the TGS 2005 announcement of a new Donkey Kong as well as the announcement of Animal Crossing which was formally put on Nintendo's list of releases for summer 2008 in Japan. To say Nintendo waits until months in advance as a regular norm would be highly false.

Nintendo has always given us at least half a year before a major title hits the store shelves to get ready for it. Even with the likes of MarioKart etc...etc.... The only real shock ones where Nintendo holds off till they are just about to be released are titles like WiiFit which uses new technology Nintendo obviously didn't want Sony or Microsoft to get their hands on. Other casual games also don't get much notice.

But fact is this whole not hyping things up years in advance is very new. Also this fall is hardly years away its mere months away. If Nintendo waits till E3 (July) their will only be one month to hype the titles before the fall line-ups begin to make their way to store shelves in Sept!

There are of course games like Brawl and Mario that will get announced early and hyped a lot because they are pretty major games but the rest of them usually stay quite until they're at least within 6 months of release.

Whatever the case, you're acting like 2008 is over before even E3 which is just silly.
