Forums - Gaming - Wii Fit - The New Face of Gaming!

Nintendo is going back to their Family Computer and Nintendo Entertainment System roots. They never really left that idea behind although they did sometimes get sidetracked. Wii Fit is Nintendo's latest signal to the world that they are once again in touch with the market and serious about selling real games for real people. They are introducing a collection of games that people will enjoy playing and an innovative device that will supplement and enhance that enjoyment.

Wii Fit is guaranteed to sell out for as long as the Wii itself is selling out. The boards will also be used in successful FPS's, sports games, rhythm/dance games, a new Mario Party and many more. It will also be used by doctors, physical therapists, sports trainers, super models and dietitians.

Nintendo's stated demographic has always been "E" for EveryOne. Once again, thanks in large part to Shigeru Miyamoto, they have created the winning formula and created a tsunami inside and outside of the gaming world. Well, they've been there before, they know how to ride that wave. Once again Nintendo is inventing what gaming is and will be, the true beginning of the "next-gen" is starting with the introduction of Wii Fit.

It's a future I wouldn't mind seeing.

It's now pretty clear that this is a very well thought out product that compliments the what the Wii is about. However, this game does not define gaming nor does any modern game or peripheral. Great games contribute something valuable to how future games are made and designed and it is not clear if that will be the case with WiiFit. While I now realize it will likely gain a great degree of popularity especially in America, to say WiiFit starts next gen (whatever that even means) is really a pretentious statement.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

I think the Wii Balance.Board depends more thread than the Wii Fit Game. Possibilities are so endless for the board. One of my favorites are boxing with the Wii mote and balance board.

Wii Code: 4819-7684-2396-4558

that's a good point to make, but if next gen starts with WiiFit, then it definitely had already started with WiiSports. WiiFit can't win any arguments with WiiSports.

the Wii is an epidemic.

The DS started the 7th generation of gaming in 2004. Wii Sports started the 8th generation in 2006. Wii Fit is starting the 9th generation in 2008. Thank Nintendo for pumping out new "next-gens" every 2 years.

That's an interesting analysis.

I think John Lucas is being disingenuous or simply asinine.

Ah, this is even better.

so people are drawing conclusions based on conjecture? alright then..

you know, if the posters on these forums weren't so blatantly pro-nintendo, it might be a little more welcoming for  new people to join in and post. sometimes i wonder why there are so few active posters here, then i remember how this place is collectively more or less a sony fan lynching mob.

Wow. You have this place pegged.

good 3rd party games and people buying these games are essential for a successful game system. i've yet to see that 3rd party games sell well on the wii (remakes/MP party games aside). i'm still wondering if the bulk of the wii userbase cares about anything other than nintendo games and multiplayer party games.

Yeah. Third party games. Bingo.

and in america, it will fade into obscurity like every fitness fad before it.

That probably wasn't such a good call.

i see how this works. we are highly critical towards the things we dislike, and much more forgiving with the things we like.

Oh, that's how it works.

I go to the gym. So this game is irrelevant for me.

I understand. I'm a bald space marine myself. Actually I'm a hirsute land soldier, but close enough eh?

@farmland

Whats your point, trollboy?(Look at this person's posts. Blatant troll.)
I play NBA games and I also play basketball at the gym.(What a loser I am!)
My skater friend's love Tony Hawk Pro Skater.(What CLOWNS!)
If a game is fun and healthy for you then it's a win/win situation.
No negatives here.

Wiifit is gonna be so huge, some people can't even fathom it.
