that is true but they are run as two seperate entitys.  For example they compete with each other.  I see game on bestbuys website for one penny cheaper and I can tell futureshop that and get an additional ten percent off the lowest price and vice versa.

Their stock is not inter mingled. bestbuy had 80gbs left (back when they disappeared) for about half a month longer the futureshop.

So why has Sony decided to make so few of these consoles? They are obviously hot sellers, so why not either increase the amount, or make it available for all.

 I would imagine sony does not want to sell too many PS3 units becasue they lose so much on the system.  So if you only have the shitty 40gb out you can cut your sales in half.
