Will we ever ditch tangible media such.

Will CDs and DVDs (and their successors) exist forever?

or-

Do you see the future of media completely hard drive based ?

I hope not, I do like having my physical media (though not so much with music) because then I can use it however I want. With most of my TV boxsets I just rip them so I can keep them as a digital item, but have the physical copy too

If DRM continues to exist, I will make it my life's sole duty to keep tangible media in all of its solid matter goodness.

I like the convinience of Digital media but the problems associated with owning something you can't actualy feel or see are endless.

If digital distribution means I don't have to go out in the pissing rain then bring it on.

I hope not, I enjoy buying physical media, be it cd's games or movies.

Probably will see the end of tangebile media for Music, Games and Video, but it will take a while yet and the introduction of more download sites and download to keep video.

Yes. I see Digital downloads replacing physical media... and for those that like to have a "hard copy" will make a digital copy to a external drive like a flash drive... kinda how the Wii works right now.

Of course i eventually believe that there will be a point where things will stop being paid for as well... and instead be full of advertisements like TV with artists making songs on commisions.

As things move more and more to a computer based rules, current copyright laws just aren't going to cut it. There is going to be a MAJOR shift with how we do things.

Either that or they'll have to put spyware in everyones computers to monitor trafic and downloads. Really depends whether or not people will be willing to give up personal privacy rights for a company's security.

Of course, i don't believe this will likely happen within the lifetime of the average person alive now.

Not in my lifetime, that´s for sure.

After I turned to dust? I don´t care.
