A Good Trick

There is a good trick to making your articles more readable.

Now for the Advice

Using bolded headings at the beginning of new thoughts and ideas not only helps you organize your thoughts but it keeps people interested and doesn't make them turn their head away from huge walls of text.

Good Luck

I hope this helps you out. Walls of text are a scary thing.

The DS launch was slightly different than the Wii, since the DS' system-seller app was not bundled with the system, and indeed, didn't come out until close to a year after its launch. Before Nintendogs came onto the scene, the DS actually sold pretty poorly; the PSP was almost matching its sales for a while there. Most of the early adopters were the existing Nintendo fanbase. Then Nintendogs came out in mid-to-late 2005 and sealed the DS' and PSP's fates. But that's first-party concerns, really.

To illustrate just how close the competition between DS and PSP was before Nintendogs, you need only look at DS vs. PSP sales for 2005: 11,010,238 vs. 9,229,303 for the year (13,870,391 vs. 9,705,332 lifetime to date). That's about a 55%/45% share for the year, and 60%/40% share lifetime to date for 2005.

So the Nintendo fanbase are really loyal fans and not just fanboys trolling on the internet then?

So the ones who buys 20 millions of gamecube are the loyal nintendo fanbase? Never thought that Nintendo fans are so devoted... Even they knew Nintendo's system will not sell they still buying it.

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

You have to understand as well that a big part of the Nintendo fanbase is ever-changing due to its demographic: children. From the very start with the NES onwards, Nintendo's primary target audience has always been children (which is a big part of why the Game Boy line was so successful; why do you suppose they always had such tightly packed controls and small screens?). The Wii and DS have branched out their target demographic considerably to not be so age-restrictive, however; about the only market they don't hold the major appeal in is the 15-to-30-year-old male demographic, which is the most overserved gaming market there is.

The wii is not a last gen system. You could claim the graphics are not as advanced as other models for this gen, but other areas are more advanced then last gen. Some areas, such as controls are more advanced on the wii compared to the 360 and PS3, and other areas are better than all the other last gen models, but more on par or slightly less.

We will get a better idea what level of support by third parties is from E3.

Actually the HD market is larger than the non HD market.

Hd machines - PC-PS3-Xbox360
Non Hd machines - PS2-Wii

The assets can be translated between PC PS3 and Xbox360 quite easily, they have investments in the engines and they have franchises that make them money on those systems. HL - Doom - Halo - Timesplitters - COD etc. So the costs at this point to make another HD game when you've already paid for the engine would be quite reasonable at this point. Since it doesn't matter what happens to the HD consoles when considering Wii sales, the opposite is quite true too.

An HD game can target up to ~2/3rds of the game sales market whilst a Wii game will target 1/3rd, Wii games are cheaper but both are viable strategies for success. Im not counting flash games on PC's for simplicity reasons.

Lastly if you're a publisher and you don't want to lay off half your art/engine staff then you have to stick to your current production model.

The thing about the Wii is that if you make a game really really good (Super SMash brother brawl, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Carnival games, Mario Kart, Metro Prime 3) then they will sell like hotcakes. So that is why there are not a lot of games on the Wii selling over million besides sega, nintendo and some activision (some games). The rest of the stuff is just plain out crap and not worth buying it at all.

Thats the same for any system that sells a decent amount. What makes the Wii different?
