The most obvious, and biggest addition IMO would be...

Miis.

They may be set to a fixed size, and a fixed set of abilities (or they can borrow abilities from other characters).

That would just about fix the customisation level of battles/levels to infinity.

Sure would make online play even more interesting. Just make Miis for the characters you wanted. 

The fact that the only channel NOT deleted from the Wii Menu was the Mii channel in that one Dojo post made me really suspicious.

Personally, Event Matches. My favorite mode...I hope Board the Platforms makes a return.
