Also, Sakurai did it. Sonic's announcement has brought back Brawl to my #1 spot, and it isn't going down. Sorry Galaxy, bought this Cross-Over is of Universal Proportions.

Seriously, my eyes teared as I scrolled down the dojo page and saw the Sonic being announced. Then, that video; which I have viewed, literally, 43 times. Simply amazing.

My favorites and likeliness for another 3rd party character are
Megaman for his popularity and Capcom relationship,
Pacman for Nintendo's relationship with Namco,
Bomberman and Rayman for Ubisoft's support of Wii,
NiGHTS because of the upcoming Wii game and Sonic's entrance
Tails or Knuckles because of Sonic's entrance, etc.

I don't think a FF character would show, but Square did make the DS basketball game with FF characters and Mario characters. Who knows.

I would say that Megaman would be on the caliber of Mario, Sonic, Snake. It's odd but amongst those greats, even Pacman seems like smalltime. Could Nintendo pull a fast one on us and have Banjo? Seeing as MS is letting Rare make games for DS and possibly putting them on the VC.  It would also garner more publicity for the upcoming Banjo Kazooie 3 for 360 if MS let that happen.

I would also expect to see Chibi Robo, Olimar, Luigi with a vacuum, Ridley, etc. as first party characters. And much less, possibly offshoot characters like Wind Waker Link, Paper Mario, etc as well with completely different movesets.

so does anyone else think that a newcomer will be revealed on the 22nd?

Capcom character?

In order of Likelihood

1. Resident Evil Character (With recent success of franchise on Nintendo consoles it would make sense)

2. Mega Man (A classic character who would be quite at home in Smash Brothers and probably my favorite pick)

3. Dante from Devil May Cry (Another big series with an upcomming instalment and Dante would make a great fighter in the game)

4. Monster Hunter character (a possibility given how big the game is in Japan)

 Seems like a pattern to me.  I'm on board.

People can dream. But I will have to agree with Bacon why will Nintendo put the biggest rival back in the day in Brawl.
