The "no clones" statement is pretty vague though. It could mean a lot of things.

Personally I hope they add the clone characters as alternative outfits. For instance they could have Mario, Fox, Marth and Young Link the game, then have Dr. Mario, Falco, Roy and WW Link as different outfits. The clones could have slightly different stats, as in slightly stronger/slower/heavier etc. to keep the original gameplay differences somewhat intact.

Ganondorf and Captain Falcon both deserve to be the game with their own moves of course.

I love the leather gloves. That's the best touch.

The Ice Climbers weren't even a weak character. They were the ONLY well-balanced newcomer in Melee. Seriously. They were pretty much as good as all of the middle-of-the-road characters like Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, etc.

"Wind Waker Link" (I think they would just call him "Young Link" since the WW design has been in about half a dozen games) is a possibility, but a pretty Farfetch'd one. Link has had so many items over the years, it would be easy as hell to have a second Link with entirely different moves. Give him the Giant Fairy Sword for smashes, Bombchus instead of bombs, Deku Leaf for recovery, Bug Catching Net for (hilarious) grabs, "Four Swords" Final Smash, etc.

I would prioritize a second Link about sixth on the list for Zelda, though.

1. Link
2. Ganondorf with new moves
3. Zelda
4. Sheik as seperate character
5. Ganon transformation for 'Dorf.
6. "young Link"

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Then nothing has really changed.  You've just hidden the character in the color pallete rather than the actual selection menu.

Which makes it even better. Hidden depth!

Nobody would care if there's clone characters if they're obviously just a "color pallete" swap. The problem with clones in Melee is they took up like 1/3 of the roster, and that's no good.

I would like the number of Melee fighters plus at least 10...but if there were clone characters like Falco as a "color pallette" of Fox, that would rock, because it would add more options for players. I think for balance's sake it'd be best to not alter their stats though...Falco would have identical stats to Fox...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

If they give Dr. Mario the boot, I will be annoyed.

His games sold really well, and they could make him have an interesting move set if they tried...

I thought everyone had speculated that Ice Climbers would be cut due to lack of interest. Whatever, I hope all the characters with original movesets return. Good to see Ice Climbers.

Never argue with an idiot.  They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

No Midna!?  Blasphemy!!!  Midna would make a great character.

Midna on Wolf Link would be ideal.

I hope they cut Dr. Mario and replace him with Paper Mario.  That would be so bad ass.

This is very significant.

Melee had lots of choices for customization, but with Brawl Sakurai has really gone overboard with giving the player more and more choices on what to do.

Love the game, but got a few pet peevees with the controls? No worry, you can choose from four different controllers, and even customize the buttons if you want!

Love the way one of the levels plays, but can't stand the music? Well you can change them too now!

Mini Melee not crazy enough for you? This time you can play Mini Fast Clear Brawl!

Probably the best thing about Melee is how infinitely replayable it is, and how so many people still play it every now and then. Brawl looks like it's going to be light years better than its predecessor in this regard, and I can't wait to play it.

Except we Europeans don't get it until next year. Crap. -_-
