Love that Homer quote. Used to have it for a while.

I almost always use items. Without items, I think I'd rather go play soul Caliber or something similar. How can you not enjoy picking up the home-run bat and swinging for the fence.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I disagree about competitive play only being possible without items.

If I'm better than you, I'm better than you with or without items...I know how to dodge items.

We used to turn off hammers cause they were so unfair...I don't care anymore though, cause I can just roll under a guy's feet while he desperately tries to hit me with the hammer haha.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Of course a "pro Smasher" will say items add randomness and luck to a match...which is perhaps true, but a crappy argument...both players usually get the same amount of good items...and if you can't dodge a Bombomb, you need more practice...

Exactly, they only add randomness if you suck with them lol.  Items add a whole nother degree of gameplay skill and strategy that you just don't have when they are off.

Believe me, I perfectly mastered using items, i know perfectly how to dodge and have perfect aim throwing them, also know how to grab them before they touch the ground (using the "z" button) (this technique is extremely useful when a slow falling heart container is falling or an item is going to fall to the void and you can grab it before it falls, you can also grab peach´s turnips with "z" before they hit you). I knows there can be competitiveness also when playing with items, but what im trying to say is that people tend to get to dependent on the items. I have played over 6000 matches using items but after that time, you feel like you cant improve your character skill in fights as fast as you would by fighting without items, cuz that way you focus on your character strengths to overpower your enemy and not on that item dependability, so if you play another match in the future with items or without them, you have both advantages in the battle, your character skill and item skill. Even though i play almost always without items, there are some matches we play for "fun" and we add some selection of items, there is still a lot of competitiveness in those matches and added randomness so we dont judge the results of those battles to see who is better because the items randomness sometimes affects the results. As a conclution, there is nothing wrong using items, it is completely valid, but still you should know how to fight without them. Ummm and sorry for my english, its not perfect.

If this game gets online (I don´t ask for much oh allmighty father whos name starts with a big N) then Ben and WaSu  will have a lot of talking to do (with their fists)  man I´d  love to be the comentator on those fights,  best out of six , 3 with items, 3 without, if its a draw you get two extra rounds of each till its settled. I don´t know why but I bet 10 credits on Ben (com´on a Jedi vs. a kitten, you do the math.... now if it where a bunny... from Holy Grail, that would be a different story)
