Anyway, short story.

Wii Fit vs Ps3 gap is smaller than Ps3 vs X360.

Wii Fit vs Ps3 gap: 6.2M

Sales last 2 months:

Wii Fit: 3.2M

Ps3: 1.9M

After the holidays, I expect the gap to be 5-5.5M.

So Wii Fit would have to outsell Ps3 by 100K weekly to make it (as the difference in the holidays won't be a lot larger than 100K, holidays doesn't flaw that up, but say 80K).

As we can say Ps3 will sell somewhere around 11-13M next year (probably), this means Wii Fit would have to sell 16-18M.

If we assume 3M for December, this means it will need ~ 250K weekly at least to beat Ps3.

That is possible, but very optimistic. I'll say no.

As usual Oyvoyvoyv, you have really number based posts, which I really like.

The key here, I think, is that it seems possible. That was really not the case (at least for me) 6 months ago, when this thread was active. I thought it could sell on par with the PS3, but did not at all believe that it would be able to close the gap, and definately not this quickly.

But, as I am somewhat pessimistic, I'm going to say no yet again. It would be nice to bring this thread up again in the end of 2009, just to see how things really turned out :)

 It isn't a pointless thread at all. The very fact that this has a change of happening is astounding. In the last 2 generations (5th and 6th), no game on the winner of the generation has outsold the 2nd or 3rd place.

This generation, which is going to be the closest one in HW sales, it might happen with 3 games.

So no game that is on the winning console has outsold, with the sales from the 1st place only, the 2nd or 3rd place.

SM64 did it, but it isn't from the winning console :D
