Forums - Nintendo - How much can the Wii keep selling so well?? My analysis!!

Well Im posting my opinions on success of the gameboy though, I mean, how many versions do gameboy have and yet theyre using the same technology, they didnt outdated or out phase the old ones they just introducing the new versions in the market. Thats what I want to point out. To see what i mean, this is the versions of the gameboy so far:

gameboy
play it loud
gameboy pocket
gameboy light
gameboy color
gameboy advance
gameboy advance sp
gameboy advance sp mark II
gameboy micro

^^^

And thats when before they introduce Nintendo DS.

If Nintendo can do that in success of the Wii, we will see a maybe 75 million Wiis in US just keeping safe on US alone just as Ipod did with their iterations

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Iwata has stated that they are not planning to drop the price of Wii, going as far as to say he thinks a business model that relies on price drops is broken.

But sales will not drop dramatically AT LEAST until Wii reaches about 40M installed base in US: the traditional sales ceiling. Just like DS sales in Japan didn't drop dramatically until the system reached the traditional sales ceiling of 20M (without a price cut).

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I'll have to disagree with you, but I could be wrong. 40 million units sold in the US at 250$ is almost impossible, not one console has ever achieved that, The PS2 is at 40 million thanks to price cuts and is the most succesful console right now, how much has the price of the PS2 been below 200$?

The Wii has high chances of surpassing the PS2 but not without price cuts, the sales ceiling are conditioned by price, and at 250$ I'd say 20 million is a very good assumption...

Im sticking to my opinion though, I mean, theres nothing it can improve upon the Wii and its motion controller, what Ninty can do if they already have a price drop and saturated the market? The Wii is selling now but without iterations what Ninty can do? What console Ninty will do next?

They can make the Wii as low as 150 dollars but will Ninty can profit on that? Im sticking to the Ipod thingy, same hardware different functions. Maybe in the near future we can see see through wiimotes right now...
