Forums - Sales - NPD April Corporate Spin

Sure it's fun to laugh at the spin, but did any of us seriously think any company was going to admit a failing here?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Using a percentage to compare percentages?

That's new.

My old stat teachers would probably have to shoot themselves if they saw that.

Really? I'm going to school right now, and that's part of what I'm being told.

Well, I guess this just proves that we Norwegians are way smarter than all of you other guys :P

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

spin is a spin but they are all telling the truth. :)

As usual, there's an inverse relationship between how well one is doing in the console wars, and the amount of spin applied to the NPD releases. At this rate, Nintendo's not even going to bother responding to the NPD in a few months, while Sony's spin will grow into an all-encompassing Great Wall of Text :P

Ok, this is what people often mix. 11% is 10% higher than 10%, but one unit of percentage (i don't know if that's the english term) higher. It's commonly used for example in gallups etc. When using percentage, you compare things in question to each other, but when using units of percentage, you compare things in question to overall.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I like how the MS press release keep flipping between US numbers and worldwide numbers. That's some pretty devious spin.

so 360 outsold PS3 by 1000 units. 360 = PS3 in the States, but Wii run alone despite GTAIV ...
