Forums - Sony - PALGN: LittleBigPlanet Preview - What a wonderful world

I hope they have "highest ranked map" or "most popular map" support feature, it'd be the only reason I buy this game. Frankly, even with all the claims of easy map mod, I really don't have the time to make a perfectly good map myself.

There'll be a whole Youtube-esque central community portal with all that stuff. You'll be able to rate levels, comment on them, recommend them to others, etc. Obviously there'll be rankings, probably multiple ones based on different criteria and for all the different categories of levels.

I wonder how Sony is going to market this casual-ish game...

All they have to do is run colourful ads with the really catchy soundtrack this game has.

The game will sell itself.

wow this game is so beutiful

@ all the Sony Marketing comments...seriously...I haven't seen a PS3 commercial / PS3 Game commercial since...before christmas.

They could move so much more stuff if they spent a little (ok, a lot, no air time is cheap) on pushing their products through the chain, rather than relying on the pull of their brand....MGS4 / RFOM2 / LBP / SOCOM better be hyped to the masses.

(I thought Id see some Haze TV spots by now...sadly, I assume there will be no marketing for this one outside of internet sources....I also wonder 'what if' they actually tried to sell Warhawk...I didnt even know about this game until 2 months ago!!!!!! and I don't live in a cave).

Oh, and LBP looks to be fantastic (see, post on topic :) )

PSN: TheGodofWine (Warhawk / R2 / MotorStorm PR)

AND

PSN: Skigazzi (for KZ2 and future games)

can you download (free of charge) other people's created maps? I would LOVE to be able to always play well-designed, user generated maps.

From what i've seen you don't really download it. You go online... and they have this big map of the world right... and you click and then it "loads" and you play.  Saves you the hassle of having to download and delete the different maps.

This is not a killer app in any way, shape or form, but it is my GOTY after MGS 4 and GTA IV.

Really looking forward to this.

I don't know, a GOTY potential winner would classify as "killer app" in my book.

Okami would disagree.  Which has been the biggest worry about LBP.  Will it hit the right market on the PS3?  It's not really a system seller all by itself.

I disagree. I think you've got to explain it a bit more to get them more excited. I don't see colorful adds with catchy music moving a system to the casual crowd.

This is a game people aren't goign to know anything about. Without any explination it will just look like another platformer. Even while showing editor events I don't think it will come across what is going on. It might just look like a "Lemmings" type game.

Unless you already know a lot about LBP i can't see an add campaign like that working.

I'm predicting LBP to outsell Banjo Poopie by at least 12:1.
