Forums - Nintendo - Did Bloom Box sell bad? (Referencing GoNintendo who are referencing VGC...)

I remember similar posts about MySims when it only sold 46,000 units in its first week in North America and has since broken 1 Million units worldwide (and sold 17,000 units worldwide last week) ...

first of all boom blox was selling only for 4 days during its launch week and if you consider that it's 2nd week for mario kart and 9 for brawl 25k for boom blox isn't that bad after all.

It may be off to a bad start, but Boom Blox probably would have performed WORSE on the PS3 and 360.

It's a shame, too. The game is actually rather fun. Any game that gets me talking to it has got that special something.(I caught myself saying "No no no no ARGGG" several times while playing it)

Let's watch the legs for a few weeks. As others have pointed out, a few 3rd-party Wii games started slow, and went platinum.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

The sell curve for Wii games is often very different. It is slow and constant. They are the tortoise to the hare of games on other systems.

And if you were not following the games release schedule, I don't recall seeing any big advertisement campaigns that would make the casual gamer run out and get this title. (Many hardcore gamers here decided pre-release not to get it because EA took out the head tracking Easter Egg).

Finally, it might just be a bit overpriced for the market niche. At $40, it could be more of an impulse buy than $50.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Wait and see the amazing legs for this game...

It is priced to high for a puzzle game, when it comes down to $30, I will get it.
I hope it has legs.

Consoles LTD, end 2009, end 2010 - prediction

Wii -  68 million, 90 million - Wii HD in late 2011 - $249

360 - 38 million, 47 million - 720 in late 2010 - $299

PS3 - 31 million, 43 million - slim PS3 in mid 2009 - $299

Did EA do any television commercials for Boom Blox? I know No more heroes and Zack and Wiki did not have advertising and were sent to die a quick death at retail. I hope EA did not do the same thing. If they did then it's their failure and it shows just how much faith that they had in the product, None.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
